Re: JoshC1977's MLB 19 Sliders
I'm curious to know how many hits + runs people are getting on average . Im 28 games in now and really just struggling to get runs in , im allways leaving runners stranded . Hitting is not a problem , I'm getting anywhere between 4 -12 hits a game but I'm getting too many games where I'm completely shutout or If I'm lucky I get 2 or 3 runs . Very low scores , so I put hitting diffultly on veteran in the last 2 games I played and that was just a joke , 1st game I got 16 hits and scored 11 , 2nd game 15 hits and scored 9 . Veteran is far to easy to hit away and score , and all-star is just fine for hits but very rarely do I get more than 2 or runs a game.

Re: JoshC1977's MLB 19 Sliders
Having an awesome series with the Red Sox in Boston right now. They’re playing some really good ball and are sitting at 38-28, while the Rays(me) are playing just as well at 38-26. We’re 4 and 5 games back respectively of the Yankees in the AL East and are sitting at 1 and 2 in the way too early look at the AL Wild Card Race.
Game 1 was a slugfest compared to what games have been like for us so far this year. We have a great pitching staff and an average lineup so we see a lot more 4-2 games than 10-8 games. Game 1 featured Chris Sale vs Yonny Chirinos. The Rays offense got going early in this one. They put a 5 spot up in the 3rd inning and after getting nailed with a line drive Sale left after just 2.2 IP. The bottom of the very next inning the Sox put a 5 spot on Chirinos and then added another in the 5th to make it 6-5. The Rays followed that with a 2 run home run off the bat of Daniel Robertson in the very next half inning to take the lead back 7-6. The Rays were able to tack on an insurance run in the 8th and won this exciting game 8-6.
Game 2 of the series featured David Price vs Tyler Glasnow. Game 2 started off similar to game 1 and saw the Red Sox take an early 2-0 lead in the very first inning off a Dustin Pedroia home run. I thought we were about to have another high scoring game, but that wasn’t to be the case. David Price came in with some crafty veteran stuff, painting corners left and right, taking a no-no into the 5th. Meanwhile Glasnow settled down after the first and the score was 2-0 after 5. After the Rays manufactured a run in the 6th to make it 2-1 the Red Sox turned the game over to their bullpen in the 7th. In stepped Mike Zunino with a man on third with 2 outs. He hits a bomb right down the left field line that just squeaks inside the foul pole and lands on Landsdowne Street. Rays take the lead 3-2. After a couple close games in a row for the Rays their bullpen was a little short handed. They ended up giving up the game tying run in the 8th but also threw out the go ahead run at home on a wild pitch. 3-3 after 8. Neither team could do anything in the 9th. The Sox put a couple guys on in the bottom on the 10th and after loading the bases intentionally to try and get the force at home. The Rays gave up the game-winning single to Jackie Bradley Jr.. Red Sox win 4-3.
Hopefully game 3 can live up to the first two. 🤞🏼

I depleted the bench, the bullpen, and had to go into the starting rot. Gausman who was scheduled to start the next day, had to come in and pitch. Crazy crazy game. Fatigue was setting in for players, pitchers, and myself
How can you not be romantic about baseball

You should skim through my 22 inning rubber match game hosting the Cubs.

Re: JoshC1977's MLB 19 Sliders
With the sliders playing incredibly well and giving me the variety I crave, I thought I'd give an update on my Reds franchise....
It has been a tough one so far. We're 14 games under .500 and about 9.5 games back in the wild card. We're in mid-June (about a week behind the current calendar) and needed a change. This has just been a team that can seem to hit a stretch where both hitting and pitching are firing on all cylinders at the same time. I still feel like this is a core team that is good enough to contend, but we needed to repurpose the talent a bit. Even though we're in a deep-ish hole, I feel like we can recover.
Overall, I can get runners on base (we actually lead the majors in BA), but the way the roster is built, we don't have anyone with "easy power". Guys like Votto, Scooter, Puig and Suarez are all able to hit dingers (and they have), but this is a roster without a true bomber. Pitching has also been a sore spot - some of that because I tend to stick with starters a bit too long but also because we have very few guys with legit strikeout stuff. OF defense (or lack thereof) hasn't helped either....
So....it was time to start wheeling-and dealing....the needs...
1. A guy with legit raw power (80+ power ratings). Ideally a LF and even better if he could play defense a bit.
2. A SP with legit stuff. The Reds staff just had too many control-oriented guys and not enough high-K talent.
3. A C that I can hit with as I just cannot hit with Tucker Barnhart (I couldn't on MLB18 either).
4. Lesser need, but a high-K RP (ideally a righty).
So...this is what I wound up doing....
Traded Jesse Winker (a 'B' potential who is hitting well over .300 with developing pop), Robert Stephenson (a 'B' potential who will be moved back to the rotation), and Sonny Gray to Toronto for Marcus Stroman and Randall Grichuk. Stroman needs a contract extension, has struggled in 2019, and is an injury risk. But, he has tremendous stuff and when healthy, has the potential to dominate. Grichuk (who will play LF for me) has more raw power than anyone on the Reds (though it isn't as extreme as I had hoped to acquire, hitting 80 in-game once coach boosts are factored-in) but he is such a massive defensive upgrade over Winker that I decided to give it a go with him. So, IF it falls into place, that's needs 1 and 2 off the list. It's a riskier trade, but that risk also meant a cheaper price.
Second deal may sound a bit odd. I traded Jose Peraza and Tucker Barnhart to the Nats for Yan Gomes, Kyle Barraclough and a lotto ticket SP. I flat-out cannot hit with Peraza and Barnhart (and couldn't last year either). Gomes is a guy I have historically done well with and while Barraclough might scare me every time he goes out there with his iffy control, he can get K's and gives me a different 'pitch mix' look from Iglesias. Peraza fills a hole at 2b for the Nats and Barnhart gives the Nats a quality receiver to complement Suzuki.
I've played three games post-trade. The first and second games, the new adds didn't do much. My last game though (which was my last stream and is up on my Twitch page), they made an impact. Stroman made his first start for me and after surviving a bases-loaded, no out jam in the first, went 7+ while allowing 1 run and K'ing 9 (Barraclough cleaned-up a jam in the 8th). Grichuk also hit a 3 run bomb and we came away with a 4-1 win over Houston.
Anyways, we'll see how this goes....Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

Re: JoshC1977's MLB 19 Sliders
After the first 3 games of the franchise I switched back to all-star for batting I think I can read the pitches better now and most of all just take my time and just follow the process when at the plate.
My Mariners franschise is rolling along after a 1-3 start I've been heating up going 7-2. Lots of variety most recently I blew a save against the Chi Sox after taking the lead in the top of the 9th lost on a walk off home-run to the first batter. Next game smacked around the Royals in a downpour scoring 10 of my 13 runs in the first 3 innings."Listen son, you only have enough runs when you’re showering after a win."Comment

Re: JoshC1977's MLB 19 Sliders
I know the OP says camera is the first thing to look at if hitting becomes to easy. Retro is just a tad too easy for me. Has anyone found a camera that's similar to retro that makes hitting slightly more difficult. I basically need to find one where I strike out a couple more times per game than I do currently. Thanks in advance.Comment
