Re: Armor & Swords MLB The Show 20 Classic/Directional Clean Screen Simulation Slider

    Hello Armor.
you are going to make new version of your sliders for the 21 version.
Or can you recommend me someone who has made a realistic version of sliders for version 21?

    Greetings

Re: Armor & Swords MLB The Show 20 Classic/Directional Clean Screen Simulation Slider

I’ve recently picked back up on my 2020 season on MLB 20. I use these sliders and heat great results for the most part. However, one change I’ve recently made is to my hitting camera. I’ve always used MLB 15, but recently I’ve been using the fisheye camera. I really like it, but my strikeout numbers have increased dramatically the last 19 games (since switching to fisheye).

Here’s some statistical data to show what’s been happening…

In my first 112 games using MLB 15 camera I struck out a total of 950 times. Which is 8.48 strikeouts per game.

Since picking the game back up and using fisheye camera I’ve went down swinging 192 times in 19 games. This equates to 10.1 strikeouts per game.

To give frame of reference the best and worst teams in the game are as follows.

Houston has the fewest at 7.06 per game.
St. Louis is the worst at 9.33 per game.

The alarming number is me going from 8.48 to well above the worst in the league at 10.1. I can’t seem to pick up the low balls on fisheye and I’m generally behind fastballs much more often. Here’s where I’m looking for suggestions….

      Should I…

      1) Keep plugging away and hopefully just get better at batting using fisheye? My thought process is that I’ll only get better over time.
      2) Keep using fisheye but lower pitch speeds one notch? Again, I’m using Armor’s exact setting and have all year.
      3) Go back to the MLB 15 camera.

What up Gagnon......100% go back to MLB15. You & I experienced pretty much the exact same thing. FishEye looks better, but with my tv set up etc. I prefer the MLB15 view. Armor's sliders are tremendous, but hitting camera is one of the few things you can change up w/o changing the core gameplay.

I’m gonna give it a bit more time I think, but may end up going back to MLB 15. There’s pros and cons to both really.

I like the look of fisheye in regards to the stadiums. However I like that the pitcher looks closer on MLB 15.

Also, 100 mph fastballs feel very fast on fisheye. No doubt. Settings wise, I’m set. I still don’t get quite enough strikeouts (while pitching) but that’s really my one and only gripe. I’m going to focus heavily on acquiring pitchers with very high k/9 ratings in the off-season.

I turned pitch speed down on fisheye and belted a homer on the very first at-bat with Bryant. Haha. Given, it was one at-bat, but funny nonetheless.

I have a series against the Mets where I’ll face de Grom, so that could be interesting in regards to striking out.

I agree w/ you about pitch speed.....it appears way faster on fish eye. 8/7 or 9/8 is prob the correct pitch speed sliders if using MLB15, wide or retro hitting views.

Help Armour!! Some guy from the City turned off our power for a few minutes without telling me and I lost all of my settings - things went back to like I just started the game (favorite team, etc.). I can’t find your mode-specific settings for both owned and cpu teams. I don’t see them on your OP. Where can I find them?

I have a few questions about editing players, regression, etc.

I’m nearing the end of my 2020 season and I will go through and counter some regression at the end of the year. However, I’m wondering, what’s the method to the madness here? How do we know how much to edit players. There’s no way that I’m aware of to know what a player’s rating was at the beginning of the year. I don’t want to counter regression to a point that am aging player’s rating is better than his rating at the start of the year. Is this something I should have been doing month-to-month?

Also, when editing players it seems like I remember somewhere that there’s a 1-for-1 rule in regards to swapping ratings around. Is it within the house rules to move, say, fielding ability attributes for a pitcher to his K/9 rating?

I can’t seem to find Warmwind’s house rules on this particular area of ratings editing.

I read it but it doesn’t say much in regards to whether you can swap attributes. And is it done month to month or only at the end of the year?

I remember reading something where one durability point equates to two points in stamina (or something to that effect).

The most challenging thing to me that I’d like to know more about is how much do we counter the regression? And how do we know what the previous attribute total was? Just by the minus (-4 for example above CON L) above the attributes?

Armor - loving MLB 20 and your sliders as usual. When was your first set? Feel like I've been playing along with you for a decade.

I'm using my own set of rosters (full re-rates of every player and prospect based on Steamer ratings, Fangraphs prospect ratings, and various other sources), and I am getting very low strikeout rates. Offensively, through 721 PA, my strikeout rate is 14.6%, and defensively, through 730 batters faces, my strikeout rate is 14.7%. To put this into context, the lowest strikeout rate was 18.2% in 2019, 19.7% in 2020, and 19.5% this year (all HOU offensively).

What is the suggested edit to increase the strikeouts? As an aside, I'm also only walking 5.8% of batters. Not sure if it is my approach or not. I do essentially everything in the cover post.

Thanks - loving the Twitch streams, too!

Thank you man!!! My first slider set I ever developed was for MLB 11 I believe.

That game still holds a special place in my heart as one of my all time favorite baseball games along with MLB 12. I actually went back and played MLB 11 earlier this year (actually revisited all of em) and it was so different.....lol.

20 is the absolute gold standard for me though for gameplay.

As far as your question.....the only thing I can suggest for offensive strikeouts is turn your (fastball) pitch speed up and follow along with the Off-Speed slider one click below what your fastball is. If you are already maxed out......consider changing your hitting camera for a new challenge. That is all you can do.

As far as your pitching staff getting more.......don’t even sweat it. It is a legacy issue. And quite frankly......in todays game in real life.....it is a hitting issue as to why players are striking out at a higher clip......approach at the plate is a lost art that is being replace with swinging outta your shoes all the time. A great majority of hitters.....are not trying to hit anymore. They are trying to launch balls....thae game is not in the greatest place currently IRL. But that is my personal opinion and can be debated till the cows come home.

I would not even try to chase defensive strikeouts.....just accept it and enjoy this incredible game.

                                Peace.
