Thank you! a shame a lockout is happening or I would be continuing doing them right now!

Yes I am tempted to set the game down from All Star to Legend I really want to avoid doing that but if it gives variety in games then it's worth it.

20 was a game I played for 2 years it probably won't be beaten of how many hours I clocked on it but the best thing about it was the variety in games just like real life. you could hit a Ace unexpected for 6 runs in 1 innings and struggle against a lower rated pitcher.

it just feels so far 21 is set for all lower scoring games if I can somehow fixing getting 2 or 3 more hits on average a game with RISP it might fix this but I don't wanna over fix it too. I just can't work out what it is in the sliders that is stalling the offence in 21

20 is the greatest baseball game I've ever played. I even traded 21 back in to GameStop. With the classic roster sets, I'm in baseball heaven. I'm playing a 3 game Play Now set with my 2003 roster set - 2 random teams: Reds (cpu) at Mariners (me). Won the first game 6-4, and game two 5-3. The first a comeback win, and the second I had to hold on. So sim-like. 20 is just an amazing game that never gets old.

Oh yeah. There is so much that is great about 20. The results are much more varied and unique. In my future Indians franchise, I get all kinds of great results. I recently had the dreaded White Sox in town for a 3 game series. The first, it was a blowout win for me, the second I lost a pitchers duel and the last was an epic come back win. I was down 5-0 after 2 innings and decided to keep my starter in. He went lights out and I ended up tying the game 5-5 in the bottom of the 8th inning after slowly climbing my way back. Bottom of the 9th, my back up CF hits a fastball dead center and walks off the game.

Never got anything like this on 21 no matter what I did.

I gave 21 a real honest try. I was in Ninja mode with it.....never streamed a game, never talked about it. I just played.....and played it a lot. It was given to me as a gift from a buddy.

Something was fundamentally changed with the hitting engine under the hood. It really is as simple as that for me.

For my style of play (like many of you who play the same way) the game just did not feel.....good. It felt off.

Add to that the other myriad of features removed and some design decisions I really loathed it made it very easy for me to simply stay with MLB 20.

Like MK Harsh also said and it cannot be stated enough....the gift of all his and the other roster makers incredible work makes this game playable for another 5 years easily.....believe it or not I see myself staying with MLB 20 probably the entire PS5 cycle unless SDS truly comes in heavy with franchise mode improvements that have true bite.

And therein lies where I am being completely realistic and candid. They are not. They have moved on from this group....in this thread. This type of player:

          Ratings first and foremost
          Classic Rosters
Deep long term play every pitch every inning franchise players

I get it. I really do. They are making an insane amount of revenue on Diamond Dynasty. So much so it has really become what I call “Fortnite” baseball with their online play model.

Load outs for your RTTS player? They gutted.....I mean gutted Road to the Show. My son who is 16 and plays MLB 20 RTTS hated it with a passion. He is strictly an offline RTTS and franchise player too. Thinks it was garbage. But he is the exception to the rule.

Bat skins? I know they introduced that in 20? But yeah.....this game is being marketed to the new generation and that is fine.

We got MLB 17, 18 ,19 and 20. I think every one of those games brings something unique with 20 a culmination. The only thing I hate that they did is re-skin the franchise hub with phases. I want my Daily Recap Screen back from MLB 17 which kept you in touch with the entire league with daily recaps, pitching matchups, who’s hot who’s not, leaders etc etc in one neat screen. I would scroll through that while listening to the radio show which has not changed since the day they put it into the game.

I have been an avid supporter of the Dev team. They were always very cool (still are) accessible and listened to a lot of things we would point out.

But there comes a time when profit is king and the art direction and vision of the game has moved on.

Its called we are getting old Gents. We are yesterdays generation for baseball. The new generation is strikeouts and HR’s.....not small ball, not contact hitting, not stealing bags, hit and runs, etc etc etc.

The lineup 1-9 needs 6’4 215 pound monsters hitting bombs. All or nothing.

Baseball at the MLB level has changed a lot over the last decade. And not in a good way. That is my opinion.

Back to the game.......MLB 20 gives me everything I want. Franchise is functional. It is solid with 30 team control and the house rules I have in place plus the new injury matrix I use and the card table I used from another OS’er from MLB 18 (such a cool little thing BTW).

I can keep going with all the various franchises I have going that give me all I could ever want....and all the rosters....my oh my the best collection of classic rosters for a console baseball game ever.

Here is to MLB 20 living on.

I appreciate the time you took for this honest assessment. Your words in this thread is like a pastor preaching to his congregation, but what you said is important. It is very disappointing that our demographic is fading away but we're still good. I truly can look back at the past few years's iterations and feel I left a lot on the table, so going back to the classics is not exactly a bad thing.

Keep playing AS, I sure enjoy the passion you share! And another huge thank you to all the Rostermeisters! True artists and baseball men!

              Well
Said armour yes the “fortnite” mainstream marvel Disney ect generation of kids is where all the future is now I’m
40 now I gotta remember That and just move on. I like that in 21 I can create my own team and uniforms hell I’ve created the guardians in mine!

I loved 20 for 2 years but I had to move on the rosters would have to change eventually from age new cba rules ect. and couldn’t have 75% of the league being rookies sticking with 20.

I got me through a pandemic and both my patents deaths with cancer 11 months apart from each otter so 20 always gonna be special In my heart. But now with the
Ps5 and 21 was half price I took the chance to change
Im frustrated with the hitting with 21 but keeping my eyes on fixing it.

I’m having a hard time hitting. Could be the change from 21 to 20. I’m running up pitch counts and getting walks. Could be I’m using zone hitting [emoji16]

What I see the problem the most in 21 compared is the fielders are super human magnets and too good even with sliders down it doesn’t give any hit variety in finding the gap it’s like it’s scripted for it to be nerfed to 7 hits a game and 4-2 games as the max where most runs are hit off relief pitching or homers. Getting runners on base isn’t a problem it’s scoring when there on. So avg are fine it’s run scores that are not.

The new line up you describe in your post," 1-9 6 4' power hitting monsters" is the Yankees 2021 lineup to a T. So frustrated to watch these days. They need a rebuild in the worst way.

Look, I say this respectfully, but I must be in the minority here. I loved 20's gameplay and I also am loving 21's gameplay. I'm not really seeing any issues. I get a large variety of game types. etc etc.

Getting runners on base isn’t a problem it’s scoring when there on. So avg are fine it’s run scores that are not.

yeah I really do like a lot of 21 gameplay, but I for sure have worked out the issues here and it is with the fielders they are 'too good' they are super human which is stopping the variety in hits./ the strikeouts and walks are 100% fine. but with 21 there are more GIDP and fly outs where I am finding the fielder way to much which is what is drying up the runs I am happy with the batting AVG and walks..

here is the problem though I had 6 walks against a starter and 8 hits but lost 2-0 and it is happening in to many games and I believe it all comes down to the fielding being to super human. in 20 fielders would miss balls you woud find gaps more they wouldn't make leaping we gems or diving web gems out of nowhere and balls could fly over there head and not be fast enough, this is NOT happening at all in 21. and my theory is this is the problem with the 4 runs a game cap that seems to be in place. I am even trying this on Vetran mode and seeing it. unless it is home runs runs are hard as hell with small ball.

I am gonna try the reaction and speed to 0 and see how that goes. I think I have really narrowed down the problem here. upping contact doesn't work it just has more fly outs. and if I was to boost power then home runs would rocket way to much,

I am using A and B sliders and making some tweaks to work this out.

anyhow sorry this is hijacking Armours thread a bit usually I have relied on his sliders year after year and I have locked in and not had to do any changes because they have worked really good. this year he hasn't been around for it and I have come late to the party trying to get it some damm balance.
