I have not. But it's just a roster...this set should reflect the ratings (for better or worse). So..if they re-rated Player X, Player X will play how he is rated (essentially). If you're asking if that means he will play like his real-life self, I have no idea...that will depend on the ratings.

It appears they did a lot on player potentials. I'd strongly advise doing a 10-15 year sim where the CPU controls everything to see how everything pans out. It should take about an hour or so and will be well worth it. Pretty sure Cycloniac has his own recommended sim sliders...if you plan on using those, perform the 10-15 year sim with those in-place.
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.

Very pleased to see someone else appreciate that
I think the game is more refined this year and I finally get the Pitch Control to 6 change. I first noticed the Strike Percentages when Joe Ross came at me pounding the zone because I was being extra patient at the plate. Checked his Strike Percentage after 3 innings and it was up to 73 percent. So I started swinging earlier in the count and he adapted by nibbling and throwing more balls. By the time he was taken out of the attack his Strike Percentage was back down to 59 percent. The CPU logic is amazing at Pitcher Control 6.

On my side I’ve been only as high as Mid 60s with Cole and Low 50s with Happ (man I need to move him on!) The average would be around 60 and like the CPU I find myself having to adjust my strategy to how the CPU offense is playing. I’ve also flipped on Starter Stamina at 6 because of the improved CPU offensive strategy I’m finding myself in lots of Deep Counts on both sides of the ball. I’m viewing Starter Stamina 6 as a companion change to Pitcher Control at 6 that I had to make.

Re: JoshC1977's "Maximize Player Ratings" MLB 20 Sliders

        Hey Josh,
Thanks for all your hard work with the sliders again year after year. I have followed your sliders on Madden and The Show in years past and you've always done a great job. I have been using Armors sliders in a Mariners franchise for 32 games so far, and I am 16-16. However, like you've said in this thread, something feels "off" about HOF. Yeah, my record is about where it should be with the Mariners, but my pitching is ATROCIOUS yet I'm #2 in the league in runs scored.

I am dead l last in the league in hits allowed by almost 40 hits which is crazy. My pitching ERA is i believe 29th at nearly 6. I have had multiple games where I have given up 15+ hits, and just had one where I gave up 22. My top 2 starters both have ERA's over 7!! after the first month of the season. That just doesn't happen, and every single ball that is hit off me has an insane exit velo, which goes back to your solid hits theory. Also, the Mariners offense should not be #2 in the league in runs scored. I'm hitting .400 with 11 bombs with Tom freaking Murphy. It doesnt feel right.

So, I am going to give your sliders a shot. I am worried that since I was crushing the ball on HOF, i'll crush it even more on All Star. However, some of your subtle changes I think could really help me, regardless of difficulty level. Do you have any suggestions for me just getting started with these? I think I am going to restart a franchise with a different team and these sliders. Thanks!

I think this could be a solution for you. These sliders are built to give the game more of a "All Star Enhanced" vibe. Follow the OP exactly as written (aside from those items I classify as personal preference).

One thing I might suggest, coming from HOF, the pitch speeds might seem a bit slow for you at first. If you start mashing again, you might want to consider bumping up the pitch speed sliders to 8/7 (vs the 7/6 I have in the OP). But aside from that, I think you'll find a fair bit more variety in your outcomes.

Yeah, I was using 7/6 from Armors sliders on HOF but bumping down a difficulty level i think 8/7 should be the sweet spot. Thanks Josh, I'll report back in a couple days!! Now time to decide who I want to start my new franchise with...I want a team that is going to be battling for the division, but I dont want it to be a cake walk...I think after the horror show with the Mariners I want a team with good pitching as well...anyone have any suggestions??

Arizona and NYM come to mind. Good rotations, but not exactly division favorites.

I keep thinking that the White Sox would be a fun team if you want to use a real life team.

Any team using Bacon's fictional roster can be an absolute blast as well.

I think the white Sox would be incredibly fun myself. Lots of power and a ton of prospects you can use at the MLB level on day 1

Had to post this one! Fun to see an old fashioned slug fest.

A's walked me off on a bloop single in the 9th, a fitting end!

What many of you don't know is that balla here has been having one heckuva dominant stretch of pitching with his Tigers (over 60 games).

The variety of this game has just been off the charts with solid hits lowered.

The biggest improvement on your slider set Josh, was lowering Solid Hits to 4. The cpu offense has improved tremendously. The last 2 games of my Yankees franchise were 2-9 and 4-5 losses to Oakland. In the 1st game they hammered out 6 doubles and a homer, and then followed that with 3 homers in the 2nd game.

IMO the cpu's offense has increased dramatically with just that 1 slider. It does play more like you said, real baseball. Absolutely love the increase in cpu offense while tapping my offense down (which it needed)

Bleeders, bloops, flairs and some majestic homers from are a vast improvement from laser hits. Freaking loving the changes!

Just wanted to let everyone know, these sliders also hold up very well if you do cpu vs cpu. I've seen 2-1 extra inning games as well as 11-9 games with 4 homeruns. Give them a try...

This plus Bacon's roster and I'm really enjoying the game this year.

I've been struggling really struggling with hitting all season so far and still am but the hit variety makes all those balls to outfield resulting in an out more tolerable with the change to solid hits. lol

Re-adjusting to the pitch control has led to some rough outings but slowly I'm getting it back together.

Just a quick update, I think All Star+ (achieved via Dynamic Difficulty) can work well with this setup as a way to add some 'teeth' if needed (lhsballa has been using it - and it looks good). I've added that to the OP as an option.

(Just please....if you decide to use it and have specific feedback, please reference the fact you're using AS+).
