Yeah I've found that camera is a a huge deal for your batting. I know in my situation I only have sight in my left eye, which effects my depth perception. Judging a fly ball was the hardest thing ever in my baseball playing days.

On top of that I'm also near sighted so I've been going back and forth between Zoom and the Wide camera in the slider set. On Wide I noticed that even though I can see more of the field, the hitting camera was too far for me to time anything properly I was always early. Been back on Zoom for the last few days and I've seen much better balls be put in play still with the variety of early, late and just taking bad/good pitches. So it's all personal preference for batting camera for sure.

Camera is a huge thing. I struggled in the early stages of last year, I even made a custom camera and still struggled. Then I went to MLB the Show 15 camera and it’s been my go to since!

I love retro and have been using it for a few years because it’s the camera mentioned in the set but I certainly wouldn’t mind changing it up I do love the show 15 camera. Seems like anything that’s labeled user preference gives me the most headaches lol. Almost wish everything said non negotiable instead lol

I like the fish eye view for the park. The wide view at least still gives you that. Maybe I’ll try one of those other views.

Man I've been playing this series since its inception and I have never skipped a release until this year, because I don't have a PS5, and because I was kinda bummed about year to year saves being removed.

But following this thread (and armors) religiously is making me break down and get 21 for the ps4. I feel like I'm missing out!

My experience is quite the opposite. I’m scoring runs but not giving up any and I mean barely ever giving up more than a run a game

A couple of things.

1. I have uploaded a version that heavily edits player potentials for Ridin's roster. It's mainly clean-up for the crap that SDS handed us; but we've got A potential players down to around 5-7% of the total roster.

2. This is going to sound crazy to some; but I'm seriously looking at running straight default on AS+ aside from pitch speeds/injury (and obviously the dynamic difficulty slider). The more time I put into this game, the more I am appreciating how darn balanced this game is when you just leave it alone. I'm going to leave the OP alone for awhile but just kind of an FYI that I will be exploring that direction heavily.

A couple of other things:

I love hearing that folks are having opposite experiences....you know what that means? Balance.

Just a random thought; but as a good house rule, I do not call pitches based on my catcher's signs. I genuinely feel like they are a little too good at anticipating exactly what the CPU will flail at. I find it to be far more immersive and that it leads to more 'surprises'. (Been doing this for a long time now...dating back a couple of years...but not sure if others realized that)

Anyways, I'll check-in on Monday; Sunday will be my 'off day' from the forums.

Amazing that you wrote this about the catchers signs because I was just going to ask you how you handle that. Today for the first time in 21 I started calling my own pitches and finally started to struggle a little with pitching.

I’m game to go full default AS plus to see what we have here. I’ll report back tomorrow my friend.

My brothers have been swearing by just changing pitch speed for several years now. That’s all they change. Nothing else and have pretty amazing results. They say that pitch speed is typically the only “user’s preference “ slider and that the game was made a certain way for a reason. It’s not crazy and making that change would certainly be supported by me and most likely many others.

Josh, do you have a formula or some reasoning on what or who you lower the potentials and how much?

I really focus on ridding the game of guys that are still blessed with A/B potentials in spite of not having demonstrated that upside.

Example: Lewis Brinson. 252 games in the majors and a .189 career hitter. Given an A by SDS. He's a 62 overall at age 26...he's not hitting that peak. BUT, as an 'A' potential, he has a ton more value in trades. Dropping him down to a 'C' still gives him a chance to carve out a small niche as a 5th OF but acknowledges that he'll never reach the lofty expectations that the 'experts' thought he might have. Tons and tons of guys like that in SDS' created players and that causes a ton of adverse downstream impacts within the mode.

So you haven’t been playing with the OP recently? What made you go to default?

I just started tinkering with it; but as I was going through batting practice and looking at swing feedback details on default vs the OP, it was clear to me that something was 'off' as exit velos and swing outcomes were not marrying-up. Many 'slider guys' would have just kept making more and more changes and this is where I differ from most. I revert things back and that's what I'm doing here.
