Once you get the hang of 30 team control for this game, i can't imagine going back to not using it unless you're just doing one season and done. It really is a great tool and is as time consuming as you want it to be. For me it doesn't take much extra time at all.

These sliders are great imo. Every single game I’ve had has been extremely intense. Somehow, I’m 2-5 with the Angels, 2 games lost in extras, 1 game lost on a 9th inning home run v the Astros in a previously 0-0 game.

My joy and frustration wax and wane simultaneously. It’s like watching your favorite team in real life.

Unsure of what changes will be made per Armors testing but for the most part, it feels really good.

Like I said if you are loving 1.75 by all means stick with it.

Actually once I finalize V2 I will just put it on the OP as a spoiler tag with what changes need to be made from V1.75.

The current set is excellent no doubt. But V2 is most likely going to be my personal set the rest of this cycle (and beyond if I don’t pick up 23 but that is such a long ways away lol).

Go to gameplay and presentation and audio video and mode specific and make all the settings as per the OP

For your main profile which this is going to be on mode specific set everything to manual so you can handle everything for your main team.

Rename it to whatever you want and save it and that will be your default profile by scrolling over to the 3 dots next to Mode-specific and renaming it and saving it

Now go back and press those three dots again next to mode-specific. Press save as new preset then press crested from current.

Go to mode specific and set everything to auto except lineups (and 40 man if you want to handle and manage the 40 man duties as well).

The go to the three dots again press x the edit the name and call it “CPU”

          Save.

Now you have your main profile and the CPU profile.

          Now start a new franchise
Load in the roster you want to use if you have a save roster, or use current roster for the the most updated live roster or default for the out of the box rosters up to you.

Now you are in the set up screen.

Press square to select all teams.

Notice your profile is on every team.

Start going down each team and assign the “CPU” profile to every team except the o e you want to play as.

          Advance

Up to you of want to ignore budgets (I have that off I want budgets on).

          Fantasy draft off
          CPU roster control is off
          Allow legend free agents off
          Cpu trading on
          Force trades off
DH on (universal DH) auto is old school AL only dh and NL pitchers hit.
Extra inning runner (I have it off I hate it)

          Press x to advance

It will have the Orioles screen because it is 30 team control….this is important too….set all three things:

          Coaching tasks
          Development tasks
          Manager tasks

All to manual…..this will only affect your team not the other 29 which has the CPU profile assigned to them.

          And you are set.

Okay so once set up, regardless of what the profile says under the user settings per cpu controlled team, the cpu profile is activated?

For example once set up, I’m looking under the user settings of the cpu controlled teams and it’s showing the manual profile and not cpu profile on the user settings tab…is that being overridden by the franchise profile settings - cpu profile assigned teams that were done previously during franchise setup?

You had to associate the “CPU” profile in the front wndnof the franchise setup when you press square to select all teams and then scroll to each team and Left stick the profile associated with each team to the “CPU” profile.

Inside franchise mode you can see all the team associations in one screen as well in the settings tab. There will be a “Team Association” tile to press where you can see this and also change it if you ever want to take over a new team down the line.

I hope this all makes sense to you.

If not…..I will make a video on twitch showing the front end set up of 30 team control. I will also show how to add injuries manually when you utilize the injury matrix I have on the OP.

I encourage you to follow me on Twitch and join some live streams where I can answer questions a lot easier and give you a visual example.

Excited to see the newest changes. Games have been playing out pretty good with the current set. Every once in awhile there’s a huge power outbreak where Im crushing 4-5 a game. Still think there’s a few too many foul balls.

It makes complete sense! On the front end I did associate the CPU profile to all the teams except the initial team I’m controlling and that is showing up in preset/settings file association tab

Last question for now - help me to understand training? What is an optimal time length to train to gain the benefit before having my players on the team I’m controlling train in a different area?

For example if I want a player to work with the hitting instructor and then work in the cages, how many days do I have him work with the instructor before moving to the cages?

I understand the correlation to the attributes and the specific training tied to the those however I don’t know how long to train, to gain the benefit before assigning the player a different area to train

                Am I making sense?

I would like to Thank You very much in advance for your patience and assistance in this

I’m excited to see the changes that are being made to Armors set as well, despite how good these current settings feel, hit/ power surges are a very real thing.

I’m always going to try the alternative and I would say I am a bit more old school too in terms of wanting to hit for contact over power with *most* hitters in my lineup.

Also maybe it’s the HoF difficulty but I always feel like if I score 3 runs in the 6th, the CPU will score 3 in the 7th lol

                    Player Training Method

I had a discussion many years ago about the in’s and out’s of player training with an SDS Developer. And here is the best method as explained by him to employ inside your franchise.

                    1. Set the training you want for each position group so you can keep track easily month to month.

                    2. To get the optimal training results it should be a month at a time.

                    3. What I do is set up training at the start of Spring Training, And then again at the start of the regular season. And moving forward at the beginning of each month I change the training for each position group accordingly.

                    4. Obviously you can employ whatever you want in terms of mixing it up for different players etc etc. But for me I keep it simple and employ the same training for each position group as w note each month. So for example. For all Starting Pitchers I set up pitching coach for a month, for all Relievers I set up Bullpen Sessions and for all closers I set up Simulated Game....then the following month I will set up three different trainings for those three groups. I do the same for position players as well. For all my OF’s we have weight training for a month, then hitting coach, then defensive drills for a month etc etc etc.

The OP has now been updated with this information.

Have played 10 or so games with these sliders and honestly love them. I have always dabbled in Diamond Dynasty for the fun of it, and playing games on these sliders really make you appreciate how great the game is with a clean screen.

My only question is with the 30 team CPU control. While it never seemed to be an issue in past MLBs when I did it, I am kind of rusty.

Do we want to start in spring training to make the 40 man rosters so there are 12 man rotations without having to use AAA options?

Also, would we want to have auto-saves off to redo the simulation of games if complete games are too much? I saw after the first opening day of simming the games as a test there were 7 complete games thrown.

The changes we are working on actually have nothing to do with the hit/power surges you see.....being frank....that is part of baseball. I watch several games every night on MLB Extra Innings.....you would not believe what goes on IRL. I see it all the time. Things you think are crazy.....happen. Especially over the course of over 4,860 games between 30 teams in the regular season.

The changes we are working on are strictly on the human side to increase hit variety, to open up rally innings for the human, to open up singles and doubles for the human.

The CPU is doing just fine.....sometimes too good. So we made a small tweak there as well.

I am not chasing stats.....never have and never will. I have always looked to tune my Show game experience to be fun first and foremost. But to also emulate all the crazy variables you will encounter over the course of 162 games. Also how you pitch.....is critical on the HOF level with classic pitching, no ball marker, no vibration. You can’t get lazy.....ever. Or you will pay. Also there will be plenty of times over the course of 162 you will not have great stuff that day, bad location etc etc etc. There will be stretches you cannot hit. There will be stretches where all you are doing is mashing.

Yesterday I had a 7 run inning......my first one for my Yankees in Year 1. I hit 6...count em 6 homers total in that game between the twin towers. 3 for Judge and 3 for Stanton....and you know what? It was ****ing glorious and I had a blast doing it. And I seriously doubt it ever happens again this season. If ever again in this franchise.

Embrace those “Holy **it” “Wow” moments.

Tossing a no hitter with Luis Gil......on a lazy Saturday afternoon.....I mean what!!!! This is what I am talking about. The variability of a long marathon of a season.

That is what we aim for.

Then at the end of the season.....we take a look at the statistical output....and have some fun looking over all of that. But the goal of playing this game and tuning the sliders like I do is to make that journey memorable and one where I am not bogged down in checking statistical accuracy......because every season brings new variables, new story’s and a new journey. Why should it be static? Baseball is not static if you allow your universe to live and breath and don’t get bogged down with “stats”.

                        It will ruin your fun.

Go with it.......trust the settings, play the damn game!!!!! LOL.

When I reveal V2 there will be some heads turning on a few decisions for the human side....one in particular that some may scoff at.....but if my testing proves successful.....it will be the set I am rolling with.

Again 1.75 is great. But it is missing that one element I crave and that is hit variability for the human side.

Let’s talk about Foul Balls......foul frequency is a touchy slider and one I do not get crazy with +/- 2 there are things that are not “curable” via sliders. Hard coded stuff is hard coded stuff and I won’t chase certain statistical variables because then I will never play. That is not how we roll.

Power is power is power......you don’t want to nerf it too much or the game will go stale and the CPU will be a limp wristed hack at the plate....you gotta have fear. I can tell you the CPU is doing great at default contact and power (oops another slight reveal lol).

Human power is not changing. It is staying at 5......so let’s get that out of the way.

The changes are slight.....but I can tell you are quite impactful for myself and RaiderRen who is also testing with me. He approaches the game pretty much exactly the way I do as well as few others (Cole Peyton, CGM, Dowie etc) we discuss the game all the time on the streams and talk baseball and life....again the streams is where you can really see it all in action and really understand the “ “why” and how I go about it. It is truly unscientific. It is old school “feel”. Just like how I like to play and manage the game itself.

Anyway.....I am looking forward to sharing the adjustments but I want to vedt them 100% and feel like it is truly a change I want to make....and that takes a decent sample size which we are working towards.

It will happen in the next 2 weeks no doubt.

After playing with the Angeles for 12 games I saw the new live roster that was released. I looked at it and honestly it's good enough for me. I finally said screw it, I'm starting my Twins franchise. I was planning on waiting for OSFM but TBH, I'm sick of waiting. It's a great roster but I just want to get into this thing or I'm going to have that feeling where the season just passes me by. As is always said in here, just play the game and have fun. Some of the stuff done in OSFM may not even be that noticeable to the typical person. I think my plan is to actually check out OSFM when it's released and just make any adjustments to potential within my Franchise. One of the beauties of this game is how they allow you to adjust players in season.

Anyway, after spending a couple hours on Saturday night and Sunday morning getting the MLB rosters set and having no LRP's (still need to go through lineups a bit), I got my 1st game against the Chi Sox in. What a game it was.
Joe Ryan pitched 6 incredible innings for me. His control is just insane. He likely wouldn't have given up any runs but in the 6th of all people, Correa had a routine play where he sailed it over Sano's head into the stands. It scored a runner who was on 2nd. Then a ground ball moved the other runner to 3rd and the next batter hit a sac fly. Lance Lynn was killing me the whole game. I had a couple chances to score but just couldn't come through. He had 96 pitches going into the 7th. Larussa decided to leave him in. He throws a first pitch FB down the middle and Urshela hits it out. He then gets taken out right away. I throw a fairly quick 7th with Duran (absolutely filthy but control can be crazy) and decide to keep him in for the 8th with Thielbar warming up. I have a quick inning there.

Into the 9th we go down 2-1. Hendriks got easy outs on Kepler and Sanchez. Up comes Urshela and I go down 0-2 really quick. I battle back to a 2-2 count and he hits a solo shot opposite field to tie the game. It was so damn awesome. Down to my last strike with not even coming close to touching Hendriks and that happens. It was just so unexpected. I figured I was totally dead. In the 9th I bring in Joe Smith. He gives up a single to start it off. The next batter moves the runner to 2nd with a slow ground ball. Then a base hit to right field scores Engel. The throw home was just to the right side of home plate so the tag couldn't get applied quick enough otherwise he was dead. It sucks getting walked off on but what an awesome game to start things out.

For anyone waiting for OSFM who just wants to start their damn franchise, I really suggest using this last live update and get going. I am not a huge farm system research kind of guy. I pay attention but not nearly to the depth others do. If you are like me, I highly suggest to just get started. Over past years I've always had the thought of whether there's actually a purpose of me waiting. This year I said no. Again, you can always adjust potentials and what not once you get into your franchise. Just have some fun!

This, all of this.....I am here for it!

Chasing stats is a game you CAN'T win. I've played with Armor's sets for years. I've never seen any end of season stats that are so outrageous that it would make you think the sliders are wrong. No 100 HR seasons, no 130-32 won loss records, and no team ERA under 2.00 etc.

This set up plays, and plays wonderfully.....like Armor says, don't second guess it, and just start playing.

I couldn't agree more. Any one of Sony's updated rosters is PLENTY good enough + it's what Armor started with, so why mess with a different roster?

It took me less than 10 hours to "edit" the Sony roster so it's ready for my franchise.

Some of the things I do:
                                - all 40-man players make at least $700K

                                - all non 40-man players (with 0 service time) make less than $100K AND don't have multi-year contracts. Sony did a really good job on this piece for 2022 (compared to years past)

                                - all non 40-man players (with service time) make $700K per year

                                - all SP's have a minimum of 60 stamina

                                - all RP's have a maximum of 60 stamina

                                - all CP's have a maximum of 30 stamina

                                - even out each teams 40 man roster, so that each position has as close to the same # of players as possible

                                - even out each team's 93-man roster, so that each position has as close to the same # of players possible.

                                - each team has 3 Closers (1 on the 40-man and the 2 other being "prospects" with no service time and under 26 years old). I try to select the 2 non- 40 man closers as pitchers with only 3 pitches and high velocity

                                - I stole this next item from Funkycorm, and I like it, because the trade engine can be a little weird at times. Any non-40 man player with zero service time who has a D or F potential; take away their secondary positions.
Couple this idea with evening out the 93 man and 40 man depth charts should alleviate a lot of the weird trades (especially the early season ones).

Hope these ideas help someone in this thread.
