Increasing pitch speed 1 or 2 clicks may make hitting more challenging. I feel like any speed north of 8 does the opposite, because it then just comes down to how fast can you press the “swing” button, and all the fundaments of hitting are non-existence, I.E. it feels to “video gamey” to me. That being said….pitch speed sliders are totally user preference.

Hitting views matter too. IMO, views like MLB15, retro or wide the ball appears to be coming in slower so an increase in pitch speed slider makes sense. Fish eye 1 or Fish Eye 2 the ball gets on you fast, so increasing slider to 6 or 7 may be too fast.

I did the exact same thing. High velocity guys are a real threat now.

On the opposite side of your thinking...

I watch a lot of games in real life, watch a lot of games on TV and I play a lot of the video game, and anything slower than max pitch speeds "feels video gamey" to me. Having said that, I've been playing on HOF with max pitch speeds for years and once you get used to it everything seems to slow down per say. It no longer becomes how fast you can hit the button, as I have time to read and judge and react to pitches the same way I would if it was on a much slower speed.

AND that’s the beauty of The Show….it allows us all to tweak and for the most part, get the gaming experience that we want…..no wrong answers, except playing with pitch meter and zone hitting set up is just plain wrong

It’s great advice. I use 10/10 for pitch speed for this exact reason, I still get hits but when I’ve played around on 5/5 I just see it too easily.

It’s what I love about the game though, you can find settings like that to help instead of hitting/ contact and power stuff.

Pulling a 99mph fastball IRL is really hard. Any major leaguer will tell you that they sit on fastballs and adjust offspeed. I’ve always felt that pitch speeds get overlooked when creating sliders . It makes such a big difference. If you aren’t concerned about being late on a fastball it totally changes your approach at the plate. Of course all of this is user preferences. Camera angle, High refresh monitor or TV , user skill are all factors.

Lol I'm playing at pitch speed 3/3 and am still late on fastballs.

And that’s great! High heat should make you late unless you know it’s coming!

How many of us actually have a winning record using these sliders? I know a few of us are struggling big time lol

Well, da Cubs aren't too good irl too, but I'm 11-21 in the game. However, since getting Javier Baez , I have won 3 out of the last 4, two against da White Sox and one against Da Dodgers. Not too shabby, but pitch speed 3 may be too easy for me now. I still struck out 9 times in the last two games, and average about 10 strikeouts.

                          Edit

Ok, stayed at pitch speed 3 against Urias and Da Dodgers. We were at home. I made Urias throw 63 pitches in 4 innings, he was out after 5, but he only gave up 1 run in 4 hits I got 2 hits on Gonzalez, nothing against Gateral, Kimbrel Hudson, and Treiner.

We lost 4 to 1. Stroman gave up 4 runs off 8 hits in 6 innings. One of his more poor performances. ERA is 3.25. Our relievers we're excellent.

So, my hitting resulted in 10 strikeouts, 6 hits, 1 run. Maybe I should stay at pitch speed 3, lol.

                          We are 11-22. Go Cubbies.

So I’m also having a hard time hitting though I am using the Reds.

Is it more favourable to lower pitch speed rather than increase timing? Which adjustment would be more beneficial? Is adjusting timing frowned upon because I never see anyone suggesting to change it?

Man I am loving this slider set I have made just a couple of small tweaks to it to accommodate my style of play just one tick down on two sliders but otherwise everything is exactly like your and I'm getting amazing games that are lot of fun and very competitive.

Good question, I’d like to know too! I clicked down timing for the CPU and clicked mine up. I also lowered pitch speeds… I’m not very good but I love the game and this slider set!!
