I'm assuming these are "unlockables" ?

Forget it. Answered my own question. Thanks man!

No, they're available at any time, they're in a different option menu with a bunch of different settings. The three you see in Exhibition are just presets for these.

No.....they're available from the start. Since there seems to be a LOT of people confused here, I'll walk through it on both Exhibition and Season modes.

        Exhibition:

        Main Menu: Select Exhibition.

        Game Setup: 1 player

What you see next (the choice between Rookie, Normal, and Expert) are PRESETS for options, not the difficulty levels themselves. It really doesn't matter what you choose here if you mess with the options just before the game starts.

        Team select, Stadium select: Duh.

Game Settings: This is the first place you truly set the game's difficulty. The second option down on the left cycles between Novice, Normal, Expert, All-Star, and Powerful. This is a global setting, all of the AI's difficulty settings go to whatever you set here, unless...

Lineup screen: Go to options. This is the big one - where you can set the different parts of the AI's game on separate difficulties. It's in the right-hand CPU column, you can switch each of the CPU's Batting, Baserunning, Pitching, and Fielding settings to any of the 5 levels.

        For Season:

        Main Menu: Select Season.

From the first season menu, SELECT NORMAL. This is important - it's the only way you can adjust the difficulty, turn on expansion mode, fantasy draft, etc. "Rookie" here is nothing more than a quick start that throws you right into a normal MLB season at Normal CPU difficulty.

Select Season Mode: Doesn't matter, but this is obviously where you get into expansion mode, for my purposes in this post I'm going with MLB mode.

        Team Select: Yep.

Custom League - If you're fine with what Bud did, just hit OK

Season Start settings: Here's your fantasy draft option, but I'm heading for options.

Options: The game setup tab is where you're going to change the difficulty settings. There's no global adjustment like in exhibition, you just set them up individually. And, this is important - once you hit ok when you're back on the season start settings screen, the following options lock and CANNOT be changed until February of the next year-

Weather State, Wind, Error, Injury, Condition Mark, CPU Baserunning, CPU Fielding, CPU Batting, and CPU Pitching. A few of the season settings (third tab over) lock too, but those deal with FA, trading and it should be fairly obvious why you can't change those.

I hope that cleared some of this up.

Edit: I should really try refreshing before writing a novel like that, but I'm sure that post can help some other people too. Glad you figured it out, though.

Man I'm an idiot...I rented the game tonight from Hollywood video and brought my Wii from home. Thinking I could play the game with the GAMECUBE controller I left the nunchuk/motion sensor at home. Big mistake

Wanted to play this so bad tonight!

Re: MLB Power Pros Gameplay Question Thread

            I have a few questions/comments:

            1. When the starting pitcher gets tired (starts huffing and puffing), does that mean he's pretty much done and I'll have to take him out within the inning or at the very most the next inning? I was DEALING with Josh Beckett (like 13 K through 6 innings of shutout ball) but he got tired, and I got scared so I immediately took him out, and proceeded to give up six runs with my bullpen.

            2. Has anyone figured out velocity using the Wii remote? I can't get my fastballs to go more than 92, 93mph. What I do is repeatedly tap "A" after I move the control stick down to choose my pitch. It doesn't do much, it seems.

            3. I'm experiencing a LOT of offense. Hits are coming way too easy it seems. There are routinely 15-20 hits in each game I've played (on my end). I have the batting cursor thing set to normal. It used to be on Lock-2. What should I change to produce more realistic results? I already started my season, bear in mind.

Sorry if any of these have been answered before. This game is already overwhelming and there's a LOT of discussion about the game on the board, so there's a lot of info to sift through.

            Thanks!

I wish the CPU had more walks.

Fielding is really hurting my enjoyment of the game. I give up so many stupid hits because of the fielding controls. The switch cursor sometimes will switch to two or three guys all the while you are actually taking your players away from the game.

So far my main fear about this game (long term) is not that I will be bored of it. This game is way too cool for me to get bored. However, I just hope it doesn't get too easy. I'm already starting to catch on to hitting, and I hope it doesn't become as easy as it already has for you. Let's just hope and pray that it doesn't get too easy.

Re: MLB Power Pros Gameplay Question Thread

Well, I changed the hitting mode from lock-on level 2 (which, I guess, was default?) to "normal" setting and I had a 4-1 game where there was considerably less offense going on.

I'm now playing a game and it's 3-1 in the third....

EDIT: Right now, the only things that are preventing me from fully enjoying this game is the baserunning (AWFUL!) and fielding (frustrating).

You can adjust the fielding and baserunning to semi-auto. I did this for fielding and I'm having a much better time. One semi-auto, the CPU will handle getting the players to the ball, but you still control the throwing.

OK, playing wii version on Expert in exhbition.

BUT, my pitchers top menu arrows, you know the one's that display wht pitches he has is invisible on that level???

Anyway to play on higher levels and still have the pitchers pitches displayed by the top arrow menu???

                      Thanks in advance!

i'm playing on manual for both for now.
i experimented on defense practice mode a few times, and interestingly, some hard plays, like balls u can only get if u dive in the OF, or some hot shot single by the SS etc, i could get em when i dove in manual mode, but the AI always missed em, even when i put it on Powerful level.

i'm slowly getting used to the baserunning.
it doesn't have as much player momentum as in the Show, so it's a lot more forgiving if u make a mistake and want to run back.

Am I reading my manual right when it says at fields with low fences you can climb onto the top of the fence and then jump up from there? What a trip that is! Here's the exact verbiage.

"Climbing The Fence (at stadiums with a low fence)

Hold down the Circle button to get on top of the fence. At this point press either square triangle or the X button to jump from the fence"

I am almost a month into the season and I have not seen any sign of that yet. I haven't purchased every single alt uni yet for every team, but I have most of them.
