Definitely. Not only that, but I don't want to keep denying that they don't catch on to you pitching the same pitch over and over. For instance, they whiff early at a lot of changeups. It could just be because I'm still playing on Expert for hitting, but I don't know.

Re: MLB Power Pros Gameplay Question Thread
CPU seems to get a wide variety of hits.
But for me, most of my hits our towards center, left center, or right center.
Not much down the lines for me much.
Happaning to anyone else?Comment

What I'm actually noticing is that some games they catch on and start shelling you for repeating and other games they totally let it go... which is... odd.Comment

Re: MLB Power Pros Gameplay Question Thread
I do like the fact that you can pull the ball if you are out in front of the pitch, and you can go the other way if you wait.
I made an edited player of myself based on the fact that I am a line drive/opposite field hitter in softball (in the edit mode, there are tons of things that you can edit). It was cool, most of my hits went naturally to right and and right center (just like in real life). To see a contrast, I then went and hit with Albert Pujols. You can really see the difference in power, and he has so much more ability than me going to left.
I like it so far....Comment

Re: MLB Power Pros Gameplay Question Thread
I must be an idiot because I can not for the life of me figure out how to make transactions in this game.
I want to make roster changes (ie: putting Luis Castillo on the Mets) and can't find an option on how to do this.
I also want to put Carmona (who I edited into a slightly better pitcher) in the Cleveland rotation, yet I can't find a way to change lineups or rotations.
I keep asking this question but it's only because no one has answered and I can't figure it out."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: MLB Power Pros Gameplay Question Thread
I think bluengold mentioned it earlier in one of these threads - you need to use Arrange Mode, select a team to use as a base, and make adjustments with the new copy of the team and then save. I believe if you trade someone away from another team, you'll want to readjust that team so they no longer have that player on their roster, so you'll need to make a quick arrange team for them as well. This is also where you can adjust the default lineups, rotations, etc.
There's enough slots to make new copies of all the MLB teams. Then in Exhibition, you simply choose the new version of the teams you want to play. To use these teams in Arrange, you need to unlock that feature first from the shop.Comment

Re: MLB Power Pros Gameplay Question Thread
I'm seeing more shots down the line than I ever did on MVP, so I'm happy with that aspect. It's strange, because the other night in practice mode I was paying attention to where the ball would travel based on how early/late I swung and where the ball contacted the bat. From there it seemed very accurate to the physics of a real ball and bat, but the last couple of exhibition games I started to notice the lack of flyball outs to the OF.Comment

Re: MLB Power Pros Gameplay Question Thread
I think fly ball outs to the outfield are contingent on the use of 'Big Swing.'
In the manual, it says "Big Swing" is used to hit extra base hits. I essentially use it until I have two strikes on me, when I switch to "Contact." With it "Big Swing" on, I hit plenty of flyballs, gap shots, etc.
With it off, I have a hard time hitting a ball out of the infield on the fly!Comment

Re: MLB Power Pros Gameplay Question Thread
Maybe I need to alter my thought process about hitting and see how it goes. I can accept using the Big Swing as long as it doesn't result in almost automatic HRs. Maybe doing this in combination with modifying the hitting/difficulty settings will get me the results I'm expecting.
This game gets so much right that I have faith they knew what they were doing with hitting. What I saw in practice mode the other night seemed to show me that they know the physics of a ball and bat. I could that I just need to get my mind out of the one buttong swing mentality and give this model a chance in the way it was intended.Comment

Glad to tell you that Big swing is NOT an automatic HR, You have to have good timing and hit the sweetspot right to hit a HR. Its easy to hit HR on the easy levels but once you hit Expert you get 2-3 HR MAX in a game and on powerful you might not get even 1 HR.
You will mostly get pop ups, ground outs ,or flyouts with big swing if its not hit perfectlyComment

Re: MLB Power Pros Gameplay Question Thread
so what settings are u guys playing on right now?
4 me :
i'm using classic view, cause i hated how in the other 2 views, the bats would sometimes hide the pitcher from view
playing on Normal, with all things manual, i'm using classic pitching, haven't tried the expert one yet. and i've got all visual helpers on and lock-on on 2.
i've put the cpu's baserunning and dedense on Powerful.
pitching and batting on expert.
and i've turned off all pitch markers for the CPU, just left the strike zone on.
this had made hitting for me waay too hard so far. not really good yet at telling what pitch is coming yet. maybe i'll try higher settings of lock-on later.
cpu pitching on normal was too aggressive for my taste. putting it on expert, i've seen a lot more balls. maybe i'll try higher settings after my pitch recognition gets better.Comment
