    Re: Manage only Mode Thread

Gado, I saw that. I'm cautiously optimistic. Clevecluby has been screaming from the top of his lungs for some manage only love, without success. I wish someone would just test it, that would be great. I will promise you, and all the mo croud this. I have already preordered this game, and will give actual results shortly after I get it. We know what we are looking for, and the people who are privy to the early builds know as well, thus the lack of confirmation of Clevecluby and others questions has me concerned, no doubt. We will keep searching. I'm just not ready to purchase another game system, for MLB 2005, and I read somewhere that the manage only mode was plagued by low offensive numbers. Sounds familiar. I'm also getting MVP ,(my birthday is a preorder what I want day) and am looking forward to its little manage mode as well. (though its not perfect, maybe it will be fun, in its own way)

I would put myself in the "cautiously optomistic" camp as well. I've pretty much decided that I'm going to get ASB and give MO mode a good shot.

I appreciate CleveCubby carrying the flag for us MO types this last week - I would have liked to have seen some more information, but there were a lot more people asking questions about traditional gameplay so I think that got the focus. Then the MVP Beta came out and things just got real quiet around here.

ASB gameplay has been addressed, that has to carry over, doesn't it? Lets hope it does beacuase with the Franchise stuff and improved graphics this could really be a great MO game. I'm looking forward to picking it up in a couple of week and seeing how it works out.

Gado, the difficulty in making a "realistic" playing baseball game must be immense. Think of the different levels of button mashers that are out there. To cater to everyone on a sport so statistic oriented as baseball would be a monumental task. That being said, a good manage only simulation wouldn't have to take into account these type of issues. All I'm getting at is this, If espn can put a "first person" kind of thing in their game, and asb can have a relative treasure trove of different interviews, "pickup games" and the like , then attention to an all inclusive, simulation for us manage only types would be very do-able. And we are a loyal bunch. Keeping fingers crossed!

                  Re: Manage only Mode Thread

I like to watch the CPU play half of my games for me, but I really want it to look realistic.
In last years game during CPU VS CPU games did the CPU batters take practice swings before the pitch, or did the CPU pitcher always fast pitch. It looks unrealistic to watch when the CPU batters just come up to bat without practice swings. Is there a certain option that lets you adjust the pace of the game for this purpose? I haven't played ASB since the 2003 edition so I'm just wondering.

Eric, In last years version of the game, there were no practice swings in cpu controlled games.
                        Sorry.

I think that ASB should borrow EA's idea of jumping in and out of games. I like the idea of managing in text only mode to keep things moving at a pretty good pace. Then in critical situation it would be neat to jump back in, slow things down and watch things play out graphically (or even play them out manually).
