    Re: Manage only Mode Thread

Actually, when you change anything in the players ratings, it changes the players health.
Usually for the worse, in my experience.
This is not new, this problem existed last year as well, and it should really have been fixed.
And health is not something that can be changed in the player editor, which is even more sad than it not being fixed, is the fact that they don't allow us to edit it back to what it was.
It's not fun watching your star players go from A health to D- just because you altered one ability rating of theirs.

Once I realized that this was still in the game from last year, I dumped my franchise, and started over without changing any of the players.
I can live with the stats as they are, while using a pregenerated 2 ball, 0 strike count.
It's not perfect, but it's pretty good.

All I need are HRs... they just don't happen as often as they should. I did, however, get my second of the season (non-simmed).. Adam Everett hit one right down the right field line, maybe 330 feet. If someone, anyone, could just let one go and hit it 450 feet I would love this game.

I never noticed that about the health rating...I will have to look into that. Are you sure of it in this years version?

About homers....I play manage only as the Mets....and I have homers(still in spring training) from Piazza(3), Floyd(2), Cameron(2), Karim Garcia(2) and Ziele (2, both in one game!)
Ragnar...as far as the contact and power hitting. What I do is if the count is anything with a NO STRIKE count, with any batters except Floyd, Piazza or Cameron(my 3,4,5) I take until 1 strike. With generated count it does not happen often though, but remember, I switch back and forth between generated count(random) on and totally off. If 3,4 or 5 are up I let them swing contact on the 0-0 pitch and then keep it contact if it is a strike. If they take and it is 1-0, I let them go power(any player...even players with less power need a few dingers!) If the count remains a batters count I let them hit for power. If the count is 3-2, I go with the situation.
If there is a runner at first with less than two outs with anyone except Floyd or Piazza at the plate and the count goes to 2-1....I usually hit and run or at least send the runner. I'm always trying to stay out of the double play. I rarely straight steal(by that I mean sending the runner, but having the batter take, but that may have to change with Kaz Matsui in the lineup...if he ever gets on!) I will send the runner on 2-2 counts alot also.
            Hope this helps.

I drafted Jaime Cerda to be my LOOGY for my bullpen. He was rated a C+ to begin with and at 25 he stood to improve. Well, after upping his stamina and messing with his defense I couldn't help but notice he was suddenly rated a D+... and that because his effectiveness fell to a D- and his health also plummeted. So, I guess this edit bug is the real deal.

I'm going to check later today just what the effect is over the course of a season.

thanks Knight...I played last years game under the assumption that "contact" meant a normal swing and then after I got rid of the game I wondered if it actually meant swing at anything to get contact at all costs(like you were protecting a runner) which could have impacted the lack of offense I was getting.

also wondering if you or DCE have found out about how the drop in health and overall performance rating from editing the players manifests itself on the field and in simulation. If everybody drops to a D- in health and performance than players should be dropping like flies and everybody would be performing about the same. OR?

If you edit every player in the ways Knight suggested, which then causes all players to have the same health and overall performance rating; is it possible that injuries overall don't become more prevalent- just more randomized(meaning no players are more susceptible to injuries than any other). And is it possible that if all players have the same overall rating that the AI than considers the specific ratings(power, etc.) to still generate variation from player to player in results and stats?

I'm just having such good games right now, I did not even think of this as an issue, but if it is a problem, I would like to know now...because I started editing a roster to include real minor leaguers in every level.
