Well considering the thread is called "Still dunno why MVP is getting all the press" and I'm specifically talking about MVP, I think it's quite appropriate.

There were threads on the MVP board about ASB (or about all of the games), and I'd chime in and suddenly everyone would tell me to "go back to the ASB board."

Re: Still dunno why MVP is getting all the press.

Not to enter the flamewar but, I feel you miss the point of what bothers everyone Cub. Nobody cares if you like ASB, to each his own; what is kinda annoying is the "ASB has had that for years" attitude that you bring to our (MVP) forum. It's almost like you've been looking for the chinks in MVP's armor. You might not like EA's approach; some of us do. We come into the MVP forums looking for Media and impressions to stoke our fire. Here comes the self-appointed critics spouting off about how MVP is lacking in comparison to ASB or ESPN.(no names mentioned. wink)

I don't think that anyone personally dislikes you. As a matter of fact, we don't know you. Speaking for myself, I just want to live in my little dream world till March 9th. If the game lacks, so be it. I hope none of this is taken personally. I just would appreciate if you could only bring your positive (only) input to the MVP forums....

News flash: I AM! That's the point of looking at previews.

I'm also looking for chinks in ASB's armor. Doesn't mean I like finding them (in any game), but I'm not going to sit around and ignore it.

And I've said "ASB has had that (feature) for years" exactly ONCE on the MVP board. And I thought it was on-topic at the time, the way everyone was saying they've never seen that in a baseball game before.

As for the "attitude", I think that's just a misconception. How I feel about ASB and how I feel about MVP are two very separate things. One doesn't influence the other, no matter how much people on "our" MVP board thinks it does.

Re: Still dunno why MVP is getting all the press.

Personally the more games the better for the consumer.

                  I like having choices.

As for EA, the reason their games sell so well is because they makes great games. Look at the reviews of their games, and the majority are excellent.

If EA produced crap, then they wouldn't have so many million selling franchises.

Exactly. So when your bad product starts dumping what do you do....CHANGE THE NAME PERHAPS? Then you start the marketing cycle all over with a new 'fresh' name that people don't equate with trash.

Slap on the well known EA brand name, get the marketing team working on some hip new buzzwords for the otherwise common features in your game, release 1001 great looking screenshot - yet none depecting an actaul in game picture (same with videos), host big media parties and events and invite up all the reviewers for shwag and food....

Yeah, your right. That marketing thing does't work anymore...

That's not entirely true, Asianflow. Triple Play was a top selling baseball game for years, and for years it was lousy. Same with NHL. I'm as glad as the next guy that EA finally has a baseball game worth buying again, I just wish it wouldn't have taken them so long to step up to the plate, so to speak, in junking Triple Play. I'm pretty sure we're going to have at least 3 quality baseball games to choose from this year, and possibly a 4th if ESPN pulls it together. For me, that's a great thing. Sure beats the hell out of when it was pretty much Triple Play or nothing.
