Re: Official Wishlist for ASB 2006

3 improvements that would entice me to buy the next ASB game.

    1. Batting. Zone batting especially needs tweaking. A late swing should (more times than not) mean opposite field contact and an early swing should mean a pulled hit. All other baseball games (ESPN, MVP, High Heat) have this area of the game locked down. No excuse for being able to hit a ball out of the catcher's mitt or not being able to hit down the foul line.

    2. Fielding. There are a ton of glitches in ASB05. Most notable: baserunning AI; vacuum effect is still there; weird ball physics near fielders; slow mo-caps resulting in a ton of infield hits.

    3. Replays and camera angles. Custom replays are a must in this game since it's all about aesthetics. ASB puts so much detail into its stadiums, it's a shame we can't appreciate them at more than the handful of camera angles. How about custom camera replay angles? How about custom pitcher/batter views?

      Id like to see either
      A) the ability to sign the old time players as free agents for use in a season
      or
      B) classic teams... dont worry about licensing, I mean just do it like Bonds..there are those of us out here who can figure out the real names and numbers.
      Tampa Bay Buccaneers
      Michigan State Spartans
      Detroit Tigers/ Tampa Bay Rays
      Detroit Red Wings

More variety to player models. Sometimes the players all look about the same short, stubby height and build. Revamp player models, make players look taller and more close up like MVP Baseball.

Change the ugly head turning animation when someone swings and misses.

There is a lack of fluidity to animations and it has been said OVER AND OVER AND OVER again. Pleeease add smoother animations along with some variety to strikeouts, ground outs (variations in players running to first base a la MVP), more variety to catcher animations on framing pitches, etc.

Please add more animations and make them SMOOTH. They definitely make a difference in the long run. MVP has this down.

I like the models and I hate the cartoony MVP models, especially when they're up close. They're perfect the way they are. Focus on GAMEPLAY! Seriously, I could care less about "the crouch" or the constant crowd clapping. I just want a realistic PLAYING baseball game. It already LOOKS the most realistic out of all the baseball games. But in terms of gameplay it comes way short.

And after the gameplay issues are fixed, just load the game with new, even customizable, fielding angles. I mean, really stack it with different views of the field. Up close to far away. A blimp view would be sweet and could make fielding easier.

How about replaying previous at-bats. For example, (we've all seen this on TV) Bonds hits a HR in his first at-bat, then in his second at-bat, they show a replay of his first at-bat in which he hit a HR and the commentators talk about it a little. These replays can be reserved only for HRs, just to keep it simple, or if you have the memory, you can have replays for clutch hits or even from good atbats in which the commentators anaylze the atbat using a telestrator or by pausing it at different frames of a swing and analyzing it. Now that may be asking too much, but it should happend down the road someday.
