Re: Official Wishlist for ASB 2006

I would love to have a "Sim to End" feature. It would be nice for those blow out games you don't want to finish.

Re: Official Wishlist for ASB 2006

option to view pitch counts at any time, for any pitcher

tweak the "random" generated counts so that the pitcher is not shredded by the 4th inning...pitcher stamina in general could use a little help

itd be nice to be able to view lefty/righty splits when selecting a pinch hitter

allow the simming of spring training to count towards improving player attributes (hardly critical, but itd be nice to be able to just jump to the season with a head start on your franchise)

pure semantics, but it would be nice if the crosshair in the middle of the 2-d cursor was something more like a baseball, with actual size being ideal

Re: Official Wishlist for ASB 2006

            1. I wish that relievers could pitch each game, their amount of stamina, rather than be limited to their position of Middle Reliver or Long Releiver... for example:

A starter in a long relief slot with an A- Endurance should not be exhausted after only 2 innings pitching, as all long relievers are. As well as a Middle reliever with B Endurance should not be fatigued after one inning pitched as pretty much all Middle relievers do.

If your starter gets shelled early in game one a series, you should be able to expect to get 5 or 6 innings out of that Long Reliever if he's B to A rated. But instead, you wear out you entire bullpen in one game.
Sure some middle relievers are only one inning, or maybe two or three hitter relievers, but, not all are. Many pitch for 2 innings per outing quite regularly.

Fixing this will help the game a lot.

            2. Stolen bases....
There seems to be absolutely no connection to the base runners speed, the speed of which the pitcher throws the ball, and the catcher's Arm Strength and Accuracy.
This is something that is so poorly implemented that it makes me want to pull my hair out, as stealing bases with my fastest runners is simply not worth attempting because they successfully steal only once in a blue moon, while my C and D rated players can steal on occassion, only because of the applied tag being so early, and pulled away before the runner gets there.
If a knuckleballer tosses a pitch at around 50 miles per hour, the stealer should benefit from this. And the catcher's throwing arm seems to make no difference if he's Ben Molina or Ivan Rodriguez (catchers with cannons for arms) or if it's a pre-generated D- catcher with a 50's arm strength and arm accuracy. A 100 speed runner still has no better chance of stealing with the D- rated arm, catcher than he does against the A+ rated arm types.

Come on... please put some time into this guys. It completely ruins this aspect of the game.

            3. Relievers - on being warmed up

I love the addition of the top bar showing the progress of the bullpen pitcher being throwing or ready, etc.... but, it only shows up basically once an inning. Why not keep it up there when each batter comes up to the plate?? This way I don't have to pause the game, from the pause menu, go to the manage, go to viewbullpen and check the pitchers after each batter to see if the pitcher is ready. It would take a lot of wasted time, out of the process.

For that matter, why doesn't a "mound visit" actually increase the warm up time of the relievers?
I have never seen a reliever's color move from before a mound visit, to after.
Never. You would think that a mound visit should count for at least one or two batters of warm-up time. But never has any of my relievers changed colors from blue to yellow, or yellow to green, from doing the mound visit to buy more time for my relievers to warm up.

And if this isn't intended to cause the relievers some warm-up time, why do you have Steve Lyons talk about it in his commentary (such as) '...and I think the coach is just trying to buy his relievers some time to warm-up...'
Why implement this, and then not use why it should be implemented in the first place??

                  1. High or Blimp camera for near full field viewing. I prefer to see more of the ball flight.

                  2. User defined HR camera placement. Let me put the camera anywhere on the field/stands/stadium.

Some comments on Pick Up Games

First off what is the deal with that graient fill white background ? This transparent white just gives a rank amaturish impression to almost every overlay and menu. It also hides the quite good looking player and stadium graphics.

When picking players all you show is their position and batting avg? How about at least ranking them with an overall speed ranking, a glove ranking and a batting grade. Not everyone playing pick up games knows these players inside and out to know all their stats.

Along those same lines when organizing the rosters you need to have those same three grades visable and also the players real life position. Sure the CPU puts them in a decent order but unless you know each player inside and out it is hard to make adj on the roster screen and if you start pressing buttons and get your guys mixed up then it is hard to know what guys work best in what possitions without knowing them well.

During the game I can understand why some of the team management stuff is disabled but you could at least let me switch positions around so I can try and find better fits for players (not as needed if the setup screen was more detailed).

I would like to see the pitchers picked seperatly so the other team can't steal your pitcher if you forget to pick one, which happened the first time I played. I didn't pay attention and got to my middle picks and realized there was no pitcher left.

                        Now for some TWIB comments

WHY is there no options for other fielding cams and baserunning styles? Quite frankly I think your defaults of Normal Baserunning and FC suck and the feeling I get using them is night and day compared to the feeling I get when I can setup 2004 fielding cam and classic baserunning.

Because of the camera issues TWIB is a chore but it would be a blast if I had some OPTIONS. I would also love to see TWIB start with maybe the current year but as you move on start to get some real classic scenarios.

I think you have a TON of extras that are more than supperficial add ons. You guys are really so close to a top notch game. Don't spend the next year ADDING resource hogging features like FC. Please spend it tweaking the menus, throwing some real TV style class into your presentation and fine tuning the subtleties of gameplay. That is really all this game needs to dominate but as it is now the gameplay is still very good but most people don't get over all this other little unfinished looking stuff to even experience the depth of the game.

I'm wondering why some of the music snips from 2004 were taken out of 2005 (Party Up, Jump Around, A Country Boy Can Survive, Wrigley, etc.) I hope they make a return in 2006. Vengaboys has to go as the menu music (the others are okay though). Make the rosters a little more editable, I mean, let us do trades, sign F/A's without going on franchise mode, it'd make things a lot easier.
