Re: The "positive little things" thread

I've been a All-Star Baseball, then MVP Baseball players, so this is my first go around with 2K baseball. If any of these are things that you have seen in previous versions of this game, please slap me silly, and let me know.

-Opening Day, Rockies vs. D-Backs I was pitching as my created pitcher, since noone seems to want to pitch in the thin air of Colorado. It was a pitcher's duel with Brandon Webb, partly because of great pitching, partly because I can't hit to save my life quite yet...but...after I picked up my seventh 'K' it showed a cutscene of a fan putting up the 'K' sign on the fence. I counted them to make sure, and sure enough, seven of them.

-Like everyone else has said, leaning over the railing foul ball catches.

-Chalk getting smeared over the course of a game

-Player specific cat calls from the crowd

-I love the replays...not the ones you control...but the Action Replays. That was one presentation area that MVP lacked.

Overall, I'm having a great time with the game. It's not the PERFECT end-all-be-all of baseball games, but to be honest, that hasn't been created yet. It plays a different type of game than any other baseball game I've played so far, that's for sure. Not that bad of a thing. I better stop before this goes toward a 'impression' reply.

The fans hanging up the K signs through the course of the game was in their last year, but still cool

I like the trivia... I also thought a foul ball that was hit back into the booth was pretty funny.

Despite the freezing which could be fixed by just reformating your HDD this game is such a great and fun game to play.

On the 360 when you play in cold conditions, you can see the breathe of the players.

Same as on the Xbox. It was in last years game and the one before that.

yes and then you can put that screenshot on the wall of your skybox. This was in last year also. If only the screenshots didn't take up so much mem card space! Also when it is cold, most of the players wear sleeves. The weather is actually fixed this year, so not every game is cold weather.

Shame on you guys for letting this thread fall back to like the 6th page! Shame!

I just got the game yesterday and I really like some of the details it has that MVP didn't. I saw the fans putting up the K sign (after my 8th strikeout, I believe). I like the different cut scenes for homerun celebrations, managers arguing. I also like the cut scenes of just normal things that you would see on TV, like a pitcher warming up, a catcher settling the pitcher down, the panning of the baserunners when the bases are loaded and when players are walked.

They do a really good job of making it seem like a television broadcast. I'm still getting used to the gameplay, but it's been pretty fun so far.

I may be in the minority here, but i'm really digging the outfielders momentum. At certain times you really have to lighten up on the thumbstick when going in different directions to get a feel of how 2ksports is trying to implement the system. Some think it's difficult, I think it really takes practice to see just how they're pulling this off. It seems as if every step (realistically) is being accounted for with this new momentum. Just play a quick game (Play Now) choose to play defense and just toss your pitches right down the plate. Once the ball is hit, take control of the player nearest the ball and lightly start moving the player with your thumbstick, just watch how the momentum starts to take place (realistically) when moving your player in different directions. It's a thing of beauty. It will be hard at first, but keep trying until you get used to it.

You're not alone. While not perfect, I really like what they are starting to do with the fielding. It definetely makes it more realistic and challenging in my opinion.

I don't have a problem with the momentum. It's definitely not the revolution in fielding physics that they seemed to be aiming for though.

I do like the way that mound visits can really help or hurt pitcher confidence. I've gone out to the mound with a guy who is a little shaken, I think he had a 4 for confidence, and seen him shoot up to 7. I've seen some guys not react at all to their manager, and I've seen a couple guys fall apart when they get their little pep talk. Pretty sure it's based on the quality of the manager too since it almost always goes up when I go to the mound with the Nats manager. Much better than stamina simply getting better or worse.

Call arguing is pretty nifty too... the whole little intensity good vs. bad system is great. Also dependent on manager quality. Gives the team a ratings boost if you get your say in without getting kicked out of the game.

Is there a button to call a manager to the mound? Again, I didn't see it in the manual, I might have overlooked it.

Also, can you manually agrue on a close play? I've seen where the AI brings up a questionable call and ask if you want to argue or not.

                            Thanks.

On the 360, you gotta press the left bumber and it'll bring up a menu to adjust fielders. Press the L and R triggers to cycle to diffrent menus to warm up pitchers and such and the option to mound visit is on that menu.
