Are there any "bonus" teams in the game? In the new Giambi interview video over at ESPN Videogames, it looked like he and the other guy in the video were playing a game between NYY (Yankees) and USA (?). Any info on this?

    Thanks,
    Duane

Yeah, there are multiple "all-star" teams this year: AL East, AL Central, AL West, NL East, NL Central, NL West, Dominican Republic, USA, International, and Venezuela. (I think the roster cutoff date for these teams may have been a bit earlier than for the regular rosters, so A-Rod might be on the AL West instead of AL East.)

Thanks FP. As a followup question, are there any teams using the legends players in the game?

Sorry if this has been answered before--I looked through the thread and couldn't find it.

      1. Can you sim a few inning and then jump in and play a game in franchise?

      2. Can you sim-to-end?

      3. Can you manage the game while simming?

            Re: Any questions?

If I get ALOT of home runs and RBIs, is they going to start going BACKWARDS (for some God forsaken reason) or is it going to continue going forward like it's SUPPOSED to?

Last year, I hit 150 (or 250.. I forgot) homeruns in one season and the number started going BACKWARDS... Now I know there are lots of you simulation people out there but for me, if I hit 251 home runs, I want it to SAY 251 home runs... Not 249!!!

Please tell me you fix it this year.

            Thanks FP

Can you check player cards during the game? You couldn't do this last year and it was a problem for me if I was playing with two unfamiliar teams. I didn't know if my reliever or their hitter was better against lefties/righties.

To be honest with you FP, I have a sneaking suspicion that reviews this year will not be as nice as last year with this game.

I personally haven't touched either MVP or your game outside of the OXM demo for yours and would love to get my hands on both to review. Reading previews it seems like MVP has taken huge steps while you guys seem to be stuck in neutral, adding a few things here and there to make the game better.

I certainly hope I'm wrong and I certainly hope I get my hands on final review copies of both games, but if I had to make a choice with my pocketbook between the two, I'd probably pick MVP right now...even without online on Xbox.

MVP had some glaring flaws last year...this year they may leapfrog you unfortunately. Once again, my opinion having no time on either games outside of the OXM demo of yours.

And, as I said, I'd love to get my hands on either or both games to review...and who knows, maybe I will from the companies.

Plus we're talking about Jon Robinson here...the man who rolled over on NFL Street, a game that was not as great as his review said. They should really keep Hilary on the sports games, he isn't as likely to fanboy out (my opinion).

Well, I do think MVP has definitely added more "ooo-ahh" stuff than we have (which is all previews are concerned with), but since a large portion of our time went into tuning, fixing nagging flaws, and adding variety to various aspects of the actual game (animations, cut-scenes, audio, etc.), I'd be surprised if MVP played a better game of baseball. That's not the sort of thing that necessarily sells lots of games or impresses most reviewers, but I think people who buy our game will be happy with it in the long run, when they no longer care about the shiny back-of-the-box features (i.e. First Person Mode, minor leagues, etc.). Maybe MVP really is all that, but everyone thought that last year at this point, too, so who knows.
