Re: Creating **The 'PERFECT' Slider Set**

BTW before trying these sliders, I was using Daouds "VFR" sliders, which played similar, but these may be slightly better, just from the CPU hitting alone. Another thing I did differently was that I dont let the catcher call my pitches, because that is when I get burned. I use the right analog and position him where I want him for th payoff pitches, but for all other pitches, he sets up in the middle, and I pitch wherever I want. Is this what everyone else does?

That is phat...every rbi that the CPU had was a homerun. I think these sliders make the CPU more homer happy than the user.

I've been using these sliders and I'm 7-4 in my season right now. I think they're really great sliders. The only changes I'm going to make are lowering the pickoff attempts a bit (probably down to 30), since I'm seeing too many attempts on guys that I would never still with anyway (shouldn't worried about picking off Manny Ramirez) and I'm going to lower the AI take a ball when behind slider down a notch. I'm just not getting enough swinging strikeouts with my aces. I only had 1 strikeout with Schilling in my last game and he only has 3 Ks for the season so far. The problem is, if I get an 0-2 or 1-2 count, Varitek will call for balls, which I throw, but the AI won't chase them. They'll always work it to a 3-2 count and then make contact on the next pitch.

Aside from that, these are great sliders for me.

When I pitched, if the best player got on first base... I would throw over there a few times just to get him dirty and slightly tired from diving back a few times.

Well, trust me, no one throws over to first when Manny is on base. Why risk an error by throwing wild, when the guy has no chance of stealing? It's not just Manny either, it's my whole line up. There are really only 2 stealing threats on the Red Sox - Coco and Lugo. The pitcher throws over for just about everyone, though. Not a big deal, but it's better since I lowered it a bit.

I am having some really great games with these sliders. Every game seems to be different. I have had 2-1 games, 7-6 games, and 12-9 games with these. I see a lot of hit variety, and stats seem to be pretty accurate as far as pitch counts, hits, runs, etc... Now if i could get Dunn and Jr. to start hitting for more power, I would be happy. C'mon opening day!!!

Re: Creating **The 'PERFECT' Slider Set**

                  So would:

                  Skill: 0
                  Contact: 40
                  Power: 100

                  produce more CPU offense then...

                  Skill: 100
                  Contact: 50
                  Power: 50

Has anyone tried similar settings and can attest to the differences?

I still can't steal a base for my freakin life...

I tried stealing off Tim Wakefield with Kenny Lofton and still got thrown out! by Jason Varitek!?!?

That's bs... i couldn't think of any better situation than to steal a base.

Fast runner, slow pitcher, and weak arm catcher...

still get thrown out on a 3-step lead.

                    ANY TIPS?

I've stolen about 2 each with Crisp and Lugo in 11 games. I press X and push up before the pitcher even starts his wind up. This will queue your steal to 2nd for the second the pitcher moves. With a 3 step lead, I usually get the steal no problem. I think the key is to press X and push the left stick before the pitcher does anything. If I try to time it myself or try baseburner mode, I always get caught or picked-off.

I always cue it up before the pitcher starts his wind up and with either a 2 or 3 step lead ive only stolen 1 base in 20 games!

for classic hitting has anyone tried contact 0 power 0 and batter influence at 100, i'm wondering what exactly batter influence is or does, sounds like it reflects a players inside edge stats, would stats then have more of an impact with settings like this and less user ability?

Ok I'm loving the sliders... they are pretty amazing.

I'm going to list my stats thru 6 games...

                            43 K's (22nd)

Michael Young had a 3-homer game 1st game of the season and in the 14-13 loss vs. Boston, he had a 4-homer game. I was down 14-5 at one point. Pretty intense.

Also, I walked 5 guys in that game, including 3 guys in a row when I was facing Boston's lethal heart of the order. It really felt hard to get out of each inning. The entire game was a struggle. I gave up 9 runs in one of the innings. In that game I pitched 58% Strikes and threw 171 pitches. Told you it was a struggle.

Any questions on any stats or anything... just ask, I'll be happy to inform you.
