I used a variation of The Rizing's sliders (thanks BTW). I like CPU contact at 0 because you can get a realistic swing and miss rate. I don't think batting success should be any higher than 60 though because it seems like the higher it goes the even more aggressive the CPU is, and you can't get strike outs.

60 seems like a good medium, then if you put contact at 0, up their power to 70/75 like I did, and drop AI pitch handedness influence and pitch rating influence from 100 to 75/80 you'll see good results.

I played my best game w/ MLB 2K9 last night as the Royals, and barely won 3-2 in a gem of game by Grienke.

Hey joe and others in this thread... I'm having a hard time getting k's with these sliders, I'm sure it's just me... Is it because I'm not getting the MAX on every pitch, like I'm probably suppose to be getting cuz I don't know if I'm too slow or if it's something else, I'm using the new 2-step pitching and pitch along with the IE for the hitters... Is that the reason im not getting k's cuz I'm not MAXing my pitches? And what you would guys suggest for me to get more k's? Other then this problem, I LOVE these sliders... Great Job!!!!!

I think it's just you, don't take offense, I'm not trying to be mean at all, but with these sliders I'm getting a good amount of strikeouts, anywhere from 6-11 a game and I rarely get a maxed pitched. It depends on how you pitch. I usually start off with a fastball, then nibble the corner's with a breaking pitch, then go for the kill with another breaking pitch usually low and away, depending on the hitter. It could also be your pitchers, what team are you using? I'm the Mets and they got a decent pitching staff.

Hey Joe, how can I get the AI to hit more home runs, I honestly can't remember the last time I gave up a home run. I just faced the Phillies and Braves and neither of them hit a homer. I don't wanna jack it up to high and kill my guys ERA, but should I just jack up their power? or do I need to bump up the success and contact?

            I left everything the same.

Move AI success to 60 and lowered the 2 AI (handedness and rating influence down to 80.

            Feels much better.

Guys how are you liking the Hitting for those with Contact @ 0-5? I've been intrigued with setting Contact low, but haven't because I'm not getting a sense that the Contact Slider is over-programmed this year as it's been in prior years?

Also as for Pitch Handedness & Pitch Rating. Are we talking about Both User & AI or only AI?

Are looking @ 65 for the User & 75 for the AI? or are talking 75 across the board?

I left mine at 35 for contact.

                  Moved success to 60

moved the effectiveness down to 80 for Rating and Handeness on the CPU only.

I tried to compare to legend but forget what they were.

I was ok with my hitting just wanted to make the CPU better and I finally faced a good pticher in Peavy. He went complete game

With contact low, 5 for me & 0 for the CPU, I'm seeing a better swing and miss rate from both sides.

Pitch Handedness is both user/cpu. Pitch rating is only a user slider, and I've brought that down from 100 to 95 and might take it lower.

Pitch Handedness I've lowered across the board.

I'm in a game with the DRays and I just looked at the stats and David Price had thrown 52 pitches in 2.1 innings.

He has taken nearly every batten to a 3-0 or a 3-ball count.

Has anyone else experienced something like this with these sliders?

I had pitch zone tendencey at 25 and strike zone tendencey at 10, the way it is on the first page of the thread. I decided to bump at at least each one by 15 because 3-0 counts were becoming too predictable, it wasn't at all realistic.

Did you see what you had Batting Pitch Influence set at?
JBH3 you really should start your own slider thread as I really enjoy your set.
I played two games with your sliders last night.
I won the first one at the Rays vs the O's 5-4, I scored 3 in the 8th to take the lead.
I did not hit a HR!
The second game I beat the Yanks with the Rays 2-0.
The only thing that might need changed is I get too many base hits. I dont score too many runs tho, jus too many hits. I had 15 and 14 hits in the games I played. Also we might want to look at upping the cpu hitting alittle, again I only got in two games. But my 4th starter for the Rays threw a 4 hit shut out at the Yanks!

Glad to hear you had some fun games.

I didn't realize it, but yea..."Batting Pitch Influence" I still had maxed out at 100 when I posted those sliders, it wasn't a typo. Still got good results though w/ it maxed out...

Unfortunately I'm having the same results when it comes to getting too many hits. Playing as the Royals I've started to lose games, go figure. I've lost two in a row vs CLE, being outscored 7-5 & 7-4 respectively. In both games I out hit CLE by 4 and 5 hits, see below:

                              CLE 7 9 0
                              KC 5 13 1

                              CLE 7 14 0
                              KC 4 19 2

I probably would've had more runs too if I was playing as the Phillies, given all of their power. Since playing as KC I've managed two HRs in 3 games: 1 w/ Mike Jacobs, and 1 w/ Mike Aviles (vs a lefty).

My next guess for lessening my user hits w/ my sliders is dropping user batting success to 40, and wiping out contact to 0. Then upping user power to 80, and going up from there if need be.

I've wiped out the hit direction slider, and have that set batters eye off now. I'm not going to use the left stick at all either.

Might drop to pitch speed to 90 too, but that's probably as low as I'll go on that slider.

                              What do you think?

JBH, try moving the AI Pitch Success Slider up. I would say no higher than 65/75 & see how your hitting goes. Leave your hitting sliders alone & try this.

My experience with the Pitch Success Slider is the higher you go, the more the pitcher pitches to his actual rating. Which translates to better pitcher/batter duels favoring the pitcher a little more
