Re: OS & BFJ Breakdown of the 2K10 Slider Theory...

I am having a power outage with the Red Sox. I have hit only 3 hr in the first 7 games of the season while it appears the other teams in the league are hitting a ton.

I have thought about various ways to help this, which do you think would work best?

1). increase power by one click (currently at 40)
2). decrease CPU pitch accuracy by one click (thus not so many painted corners
3). Increase contact one click (currently at 55).

Also...HOW I am hitting them is with the power swing and pushing up...or sometimes up and in for loft. I have heard some people just use contact swing and no directional hitting. What works best for most of you?

    Thanks

I have yet to hit a HR with the contact swing. Only with power baby. I don't think contact has much to do with hitting HRs myself. It has a lot more to do with your power slider as well as the cpu pitch success. It's hard to hit HRs on good pitches. I would agree with two of your suggestions above - increase human power and/or decrease cpu pitch success. I would suggest not touching the contact slider which seems to affect your ability to get singles and the bat on the ball on pitches out of the zone.

I hit a HR with A-Rod this morning. It be can be done.
Do you use the left stick when hitting?

I use the left stick quite a bit when hitting left or right. Never aim down, and try to only use up when looking for a sac fly.

I am tossing around the idea of using classic hitting just to see if there is a difference in hit variety. Does that mean that I would need to change my contact/power settings much?

No. I'm swing stick and timing only. I've never been able to use the left stick while swinging in any baseball game really. Maybe MVP 05.

I have heard of guys hitting HRs with just contact but I still haven't. Of course, I swing with power most of the time until I get two strikes and then I still use it depending on the count and batter.

I think the pitch break influence slider is simply broken. I don't see much difference between 0 or 100. Anybody tried it at 0? Seriously, I don't think anything changes.

I'm really STILL having trouble hitting for power...

I had to increase HUM power and decrease CON as I was getting 12+ hits per game with 10+ being texas league singles.

With Power settings at 35 when I use Swing Stick and 60 for Classic Batting, I'm getting a fair amount of HRs and not just with the power hitters.

Something that this game does very well is reward you when you work each hitting situation into a favorable count. Just like IRL. It's vital to work the count in your favor and sit on a pitch. Use of the LS is not needed and use the Power swing when your ahead in the count. I usually pull back on the RS when the pitcher starts his motion. If you time it correctly you'll start hitting tape measure shots.

Thanks buddy. I'm sure all I need is more practice on my timing. It just seems odd because I've been a 2K baseball gamer since 07, and never really had any trouble hitting HR's. I'll keep at it.

If you want to increase power, the pitcher composure influence slider is your friend. By raising it, the opposing pitcher gets rattled more easily with men on base and throws less effective pitches.

I increased the fielder speed to 30 (was too aggrevating at 25 for me). Also lowered composure affect to 65 instead of 75. I played 3 games post patch and had a lot of fun with those.

No, yoiu will see no power when hitting with this set using classic hitting.

What's with the meter being at 0 ? That's one thing I don't agree with. At 0 the meter is useless. Everything else seems pretty good.
