Re: BIGFNJOE96 mlb 2k11 Custom Legend Sliders

We'll I got school by Gavin Floyd on a 2 hitter 8-0. CPU had 14 hits. 2 Doubles & 3 HR'S. I was able to SO them out 5 times. Human Pitch Composure @ 25 felt good.

Now the other part of me feels the User Pitch Control Slider needs to be tweaked so that if you miss your gesture your still able to somewhat hit your spot.

I'm dead tired though, so I'll save that for tomorrow. If anyone wants to bumped Pitch Control & test it out please go for it & post some results.

I say move it to 50.

    I'll check in tomorrow people

Hey Joe, I'm trying your user hitting sliders out, thought I'd share the results. I won't share the pitching results, simply because I'm testing a different set that I've been working on and I don't want to skew your slider tweaks.

Played an exhibition game, Cards (me) vs White Sox.

      Chris Carpenter vs Mark Buehrle

      Some notes:

Buehrle is an 82 overall in this game.
Cards have a significantly weaker lineup vs LHP, with starters Skip Schumaker, Lance Berkman being borderline platoon players.
I was pretty aggressive, chased some pitches, didn't really try to work the count.
      I'm using 35 contact and 80 power.

      Stats
      6 for 29 batting
which is an average near .200. I'm actually pleased with this, as my bigger fear with setting the power so high was that I would tally too many hits.

6 ks, no walks. Again, I was being pretty aggressive. I probably chased a couple too many.

1 triple. Granted, it was a gapper with a fast player, and it slowed nearly to a stop before it hit the wall, but these triples are annoying me. It's something wrong regardless of the slider set.

2 home runs. Nearly 4 homers, actually. 2 LONG foul balls by Albert Pujols that eventually resulted in me chasing a ball for a strikeout.

Here's where it gets tricky. 1 home run was by Matt Holliday, who hits very well off LHP. The other was by Albert Pujols. While I am generally pretty happy with the results of these sliders, my one concern is that they will not pass the "Pujols Test"... that being, can I blast homers left and right with Albert? Will he have 12 homers in the first week and a half of my season?

I'll keep putting up numbers, if you'd like. But I really like the feel of these sliders.

        NLD,

Would it be possible to share your pitching set-ups? Since we all are looking to get this game playing tough and at the same time realistic its hard to figure out good settings with incomplete data. I believe the settings of the hitting sliders are based off the pitching sliders and vice versa. I dont mess with the sliders but I believe this is the approach Joe may be using.

          Joe, and other 2k11ers,
I've been tinkering with your sliders, thanks for your work on these by the way, and have settled on the following hitting sliders.

          User: 30 Contact
          User: 65 Power

          CPU: 35 Contact
          CPU: 70 Power

Since sticking with these I am seeing realistic hitting results with hits by both teams in the 7-12 range for the game. Not yet seeing a major issue with the "BIG INNING" either. Before, the CPU would have a major inning and score too many runs no matter where I threw the ball. After 6 games using these the most the CPU have scored in one inning is 4. Not seeing an over abundance of extra base hits. Going with these hitting sliders to start my franchise.

How are user and cpu strikeout totals with those settings? I've tried something similar and saw double digit strikeouts on both sides regularly. I've found user contact @ 35 and cpu contact @ 45 to be just right. Still deciding on user/cpu power, right now I have user at 65 and cpu at 75 though I could see raising the user to 70 or 75 if I continue to fail to hit homeruns.

Total of 8 batters made-it to the plate. He was able to get out of it. Next inning 1-2-3
It does make sense to lower this.

The cpu seems to get a lot of its hits and score its run in bunches. It's ok for this to happen here and there but it seems like this is the only way it EVER happens. I often use the mound visit to improve composure. I could see lowering the user composure influence to 25 and see how it works out. Maybe make it another house rule to not use the mount visit except for maybe right before I bring in another pitcher to give them time to warm up.

Got in two more games last night, two more games and again no HRS.
First game I won 7-6 vs the Padres, second game I lost to the Mariners 4-1.
I get plenty of hits but still cannot hit the long ball.

Thanks for the feedback opd. I'm also feeling 35 contact is the sweet spot for both AI/USER. As for POWER 75 seems good.

It looks like were getting close

Karpet feel free to bump the Pitch Control Slider up to 40 & see if that helps pitchers. You also could lower the User Pitch Composure Slider to 25-30. This should help somewhat with your pitcher's getting rattled. I firmly believe pitcher's get rattled too easy is this game, which for isn't realistic

Did you start to get comfortable in that 3rd game with the settings, hence the offensive explosion?
ill definately try your recommendations and post some stats...but i dont think it was as simple as getting comfortable with the sliders...i mean i jacked a 3 run homer with Rollins using only contact swing...as a matter of fact..all 3 home runs i hit were contact swings on 2 strike counts (rollins, brown and ruiz)...i probably couldve kept going in that 2nd inning if i didnt just stop swinging..lol..they yanked their starter in the 2nd with 1 out after i scored 3 runs on 4 hits..and i just continued on their bullpen..i couldnt miss

Karpet are you using Classic or Total Control for Hitting & Pitcher?

This set is specific to Total Control.

Another game in, thought I'd start a franchise, make it easier to keep track of stats.

                            Opening day vs Padres.

                            12 hits in 35 ABs. .343 average (compared to last game's .200ish)

10 strikeouts to 3 walks. Little high on the Ks, but no worries yet.

3 home runs, 2 by Pujols, 1 by Holliday. They came very easily. That's 3 homers by Pujols in 2 games with the power setting at 80. Starting to worry that in order to get your average number of homers per game, it's going to have to all come from the best hitters. I have yet to hit any homers with lower power guys. Something to keep an eye on, although I doubt you can correct it with sliders.

                            No doubles or triples.

Not getting double digit strikeouts, usually 7 or 8, but I've not seen that as a problem. Although I am using the Royals pitching staff!
