Re: BIGFNJOE96 mlb 2k11 Custom Legend Sliders

Honestly, once I bumped up pitch speed to 100, I started getting runs.

I know it sounds ridiculous because of timing issues. But think about it. The fast the ball comes, and the more accurate timing - you get that perfect hit (or even slight) and the results are like a quick ricochet.

The slow speeds are adequate as well - makes timing an issue so that you're not so twitchy.

I think it brings a completely different element to the game. Try it, you'll be surprised.

Btw, if you like this method give Redemption all the credit, and a better explanation can be found on his thread.

Btw - I'm using Joe's sliders + Redemption pitch based method, also I did move contact for user from 30 to 40. Feeling really good now.

Great set of sliders. Played two games with them.

      Dodgers-4
      Rockies. 2. 17 innings

      Dodgers 3
      Padres. 1

        Joe - I rasied cpu/user contact by 5 a piece.

        results:

Had a close game with the astros going then dropped 8 runs on them in an inning lol.

        Hudson vs. JA Happ

        Braves 12 15 1
        Astros 2 4 0

        Braves 0 0 0 0 0 4 8 0 0
        Astros 0 0 0 0 2 0 0 0 0

        Offense
        Braves 15 singles...7 walks
        Astros 3 singles 1 double 2 walks

        Pitching
        Braves 40 balls 75 strikes 2 walks 12 k's
        Astros 54 balls 90 strikes 7 walks 6 k's

So bumping up user/cpu contact by 5 really helped lower my k's, but also might've caused 15 singles. Granted, I strung hit after hit together on pitchers that had 0 composure. Game just came unraveled for the Astros. CPU still managed to strike out 12 times...although I was having a really good game with Hudson.

Having a issue with infield play. If the ball is not hit directly at an infielder, nine times out of ten it gets through for a base hit. Doesn't matter which team I use. Have infielder speed at 30. Suggestions?

I have my USER contact/power at 50/80. I'll probably go 45/80 once I get back in the swing of things, pun intended. Raising the power may allow you to hit more doubles and gappers vs just texas league singles. May wanna try that out man, hope it helps.

For those having trouble getting hits and runs; are you always using power swing? I just played a game with these after starting a Detroit franchise and had to turn contact and power down for the user. I was playing CC and the Yankees and CC was pulled in the 3rd; I ended up with 8 runs on 16 hits and 3 HR's. I used a lot of contact swing unless the count was in my favor or I felt that the pitcher was pitching a lot of first strike fast balls.

I'm finding my issue is contact, so I bumped it. Seeing more hits, but still not scoring because I'm choking in the clutch. I think I'm at 45 human contact right now. I'm struggling holding the CPU back with runs too. Giving up too many big innings. But I think I need to practice more than anything.
Outfield speed for human wasn't working at 0 for me. Maybe it's my imagination, but it seems the speed impacts reaction time too. I'm at 20 for human outfield speed right now and that seems to be a little more realistic than the 25. At 25, again, it seemed like the outfielders were getting a pretty good jump on the ball.
Loving the sliders and tweaking where necessary, but it really comes down to practicing and playing a little more too.

hey joe when can we expect another update on these bad boys? having some stressful games, still striking out like crazy and not scoring many runs off a ton of hits, and little to no walks

First game with the sliders.. Twins vs Jays (me)
                      Twins 5 (1 in the 4th, 2 in the 8th, and 9th)
                      Jays 3 (2 HRs by Bautista - 7th & 8th inning, 1 2B by Hill, 1 SB (Podsednik), 2 CS (Davis, 92 spd)

16 hits for the Twins, 8 hits for me. Great game.

I'm having a heck of a time getting CPU runners to try to score from 2nd base. Something to keep an eye on.

Can't say I've seen that although I have two bad arms in the outfield in McClouth and Prado.

Try bumping CPU Speed Sliders to 45. I found 40 to be fine. CPU runners take the extra base, but not all runners which is realistic IMO. Speed Ratings really show themselves better

Great job man. Tried your set last night BEFORE the adjustments and had an awesome game. Lost it, but one could argue it was my fault. What the heck do I have J. Colome on the mound for in the 7th inning (lol).

The only change was I bumped up throw speed to 65 for in/of both human and Cpu

                              Ari-6
                              Col-4

Wierd thing is I scored all 4 runs in the first inning, on 2 hits. Ari had 2 errors and 3 walks issued, plus a hit batter. Now I made a bad baserunning decision with the basesloaded which cost me 2 runs and an out, so I might of scored 6-7 runs who knows. Zack Duke stunk and I knocked him out in the first, but the rest of Ari pitching was tough the rest of the game.

What I liked in comparison to the All-Star default were 2 things:
                              1. Hit variation
                              2. I got to definitely be thinking when I am pitching, Joe it took a good inning and a half to get the break point figured out.

Re: BIGFNJOE96 mlb 2k11 Custom Legend Sliders

Tried a couple things. This game I kept user hitting at 30/70 and had cpu hitting at 50/80. Lowered pitch speed to 65 though hoping to cut down on K's.

                                Braves 12 18 0
                                Brewers 6 11 0

                                Braves 0 0 0 0 0 3 1 1 7
                                Brewers 2 0 0 1 0 2 0 1 0

Game was Wolf Vs. Lowe, Wolf pulled a muscle in the 5th with a scoreless game. He gave up hits but got out of innings with strikeouts or double plays. Really this game was close and within reason until the 9th when I started knocking some guy named Loe or Woe or something like that around. Gave up a 3 run shot to Mcclouth on a contact swing. Felt good.

                                Offense:
                                Braves 14 singles, 2 doubles, 2 homeruns, 7 walks
                                Brewers 6 singles 2 doubles 3 homeruns 0 walks

                                Pitching
                                Braves 40 balls, 62 strikes, 7 k's, 0 walks, 9ip
                                Brewers 49 balls 89 strikes 11 ks', 7 walks, 9ip

Think lowering the pitch speed is not the answer. Need to keep user contact higher and higher pitch speed so i cant square up balls so easy.

The reason I made these slider changes were from this game:

I had pitch speed still at 75, user batting 35/70 and cpu batting 50/80.

                                Braves 8 10 0
                                Nats 4 9 0

                                Braves 3 2 2 0 0 0 1 0 0
                                Nats 1 0 0 0 3 0 0 0 0

Game was Hanson vs. Gorzelanny. I knocked out Gorzelanny in the first and put up 7 runs on 8 hits through 3 innings. I simmed when I was up to bat until later in the game when it got close. Not sure if they wouldve shut me down like they did in the middle of the game if I was actually playing or not. Just felt like there were too many hits but I guess I need to give it more than 3 innings lol.

                                Offense
Braves 7 singles, 2 doubles, 1 homerun (Mccann 3 run shot in first), 6 walks
Nationals 7 singles, 1 double, 1 homerun (hung a cutter to werth, was legit), 3 walks

The cpu's offense seems pretty good. I think 50/80 is good for me. It's the user offense that I need to get nailed down. I think I will play a couple more games @ 35/70 w/ 75 pitch speed.

                                What do you think Joe?
