Yes. I have always had a Love/Hate relationship with this slider. For me how rattled do Pitcher's get in real life? Especially veteran pitchers. Right now I have CPU Composure Slider @ 25 & User @ 55.

I usually leave those @ default 50 for both also.

    I'm not sure. I have tried & couldn't find a way.

Yeah, I did the a mets franchise when I only played one game and Ike Davis got hurt game one. Then in the one I posted about earlier Johan got hurt game 1(i thought it said 4-6 weeks, but I saved in the middle, finished the game and said he was healthy), then Big Pelf got hurt in game 2.

Hey Joe I know many have disagreed with you on what im about to talk about but I always agreed with it.....

I see your sliders say Custom Legend, does this mean you began on Legend and started editing from there or did you begin on custom (I know many dont believe there is a difference but you were always very critical of this)

Thanks Joe, enjoyin this seasons opening set. Put up big numbers in my first game but so did the CPU. Managed to draw 3 walks plus two more were intentional. Also pitched 7k 2 walk that game with 3 pitchers. Ended up winning 9-6 but CPU hammered me for 14 hits as well. I'm gonna press forward for about 10 games and see if hits are too high for the CPU. Could be the fact that I am using the tribe and Lost Carmona in Spring to a rotator cuff at the end. This was followed by a Cuff injury to Jake Peavy 18 pitches into the season for the Sox. Even with the Injury slider at 25 I am a little concerned about the injuries.

First game halladay gets hurt for six to eight weeks. And only one run is scores by astros. Game 2 and I score 12 on 19 hits. They had 6 on 14 hits. Hoping this was just a big game.

Even if it was a big game, hit totals above 13 hits are very rare in season.

Ya I know I'm trying to play a few more to see if I have to adjust or is it'll be somewhere between the first and second game.

Yes, I adjusted all sliders from the Legend Setting. I will continue to believe even though once you change a spider it says Custom your still in the setting you began in.

I disagree with this, the League ave. for hits per game is 8.75. In order to maintain that average through 162 gms a team has to have many games of 12+ hits.

The only problem I am having is the lack of user power, through 6 ST games I have hit 1 total HR. My team BA is .272 which is good and I am scoring plenty of runs I just cant hit the long ball. The cpu hits plenty of hrs off me and my team ERA is pretty realistic at 4.77.
Has the human batting sliders been changed at all lately? Do you guys have any hints on how to hit HRS? I have 3 or 4 pretty good power hitters and the lack of HRS is really killing my playing experience right now.

Hey Joe - I fixed the too many walks/strikeout problem I was having.

Walks were due to strike zone tendency. 40 seems to be a magic setting for me, though I'm a fairly patient hitter. My house rules are on a 0 strike count I preload a power swing. If batters eye lights up at the pitch down the middle I will power swing on a 0 strike count, otherwise I will take until 1 strike. I will also power swing freely on a 2-0, 3-0 or 3-1 count. On any 0-2 or 1-2 count I will defensively swing. All other counts I contact swing. Seems to help me draw more walks because lots of pitches on the corners in previous years that would've been called strikes are called balls over half the time. Setting @ 40 seems to generate about 3 walks per game for me.

The strikeouts were due to the pitch break influence slider. Lowering it lowers strikeouts. I'm running around 50 and I'm getting a good number of K's on both sides, average 7-8 which is good. The problem with this is I think it also promotes more solid contact, so I've lowered my cpu/user batting to compensate for this. User I'm running 35/65 and cpu I'm using 45/75. Having some issues with hit totals being too high (though runs do not always follow suit, had a couple games with 12-14 hits but only scored 3-5 runs).

I'm still tweaking the hitting sliders. I like having power higher like you have it because it allows non power hitters to still hit a homerun here and there. However, it seems like it leads to too many hits because harder contact means its easier to find a gap. Lower the contact slider to lower hits and then you get too many strikeouts. Lowered the pitch break influence to compensate for the lowered contact slider and too many strikeouts and now that leads to more solid contact so I lowered contact and power hitting sliders to compensate.

Just trying to find that happy medium...

You gotta square up on the ball. Through three games I have 4 homers. 3 with Ryan Howard and 1 with ibanez. I actually lowered power.

Try 40. Feels great to me. Sometimes they will pump in strikes, other times youll get a 4 pitch walk, but for the most part you have to work the count and be patient to draw a walk. Also see my post about my house rules regarding swings.

I put user pitch control up to 40 to match it, I'm just not that good at gestures and was having to groove pitches to throw strikes at times and still managed to miss trying to groove a 4SFB. I certainly cannot pinpoint pitches @ 40, but I can pitch to the corners with my better pitchers (Hudson, Hanson, Jurrjens). I still walk 2-4 batters a game but I give up less hits (was giving up 10+ regularly) since I'm grooving less pitches and pitching more to the corners.

I've only hit a select few with a contact swing. Most of mine are power swings WITHOUT left stick influence. Left stick is typically only for trying to hit sac flys, hit and runs through a hole or moving a runner over.

Here's how I break up my swing types:
                                - First of all, I usually take until strike 1. If you look at a lot of the high on base percentage MLBers, they do this too. I did it when I played baseball. I do it when I play baseball video games.
                                - 0-0 and 1-0 counts I pre load a power swing but will only swing if batters eye lights up and shows it to be a pitch down the middle. This is to jump on those pitches who groove a first pitch fastball to get an early strike one. Other than that, I'm taking.
                                - On 2-0, 3-0 and 3-1 counts I power swing freely, as in, if the pitch looks good I will power swing to crush it. No left stick influence. As a real batter does, I'm looking for a good pitch here, probably let something on the corners go by.
                                - On 0-2 and 1-2 counts I'm swinging defensively. Anything close I foul off trying to work the count to more of a hitters count to get a better pitch to hit. Need a good eye here to let the balls go by. I do take some called third strikes here and there.
                                - On "regular" or "even" counts I contact swing. This includes 0-1, 1-1, 2-1, 2-2, 3-2. Of course on the 2 strike counts I swing at anything that looks to be a strike. On a 1 strike count I'm a little more selective and might let a strike on the outside corner at the knees go by.

With all that said, I play with the Braves who do not have but 1 real power hitter (Uggla). I've hit the most homeruns with him - all but 1 were power swings. I believe I've hit 1 contact swing homerun with McClouth (71 power) and McCann (80 power) as well. I've hit homeruns with as low as mid 60's power (Freddie Freeman). Have not hit one with someone in the 50's yet (like Martin Prado vs. RHP).
