Every year I fall in the hole early and gain it back at the end, but never get enough to get level 2 seating. I don't know what to do. I am in 2011 and my team is ranked #1 every year, but I always get knocked out in the first round. TO much thanks that a lot of my good players get injured in the last week of the season and are out for the playoffs. The curse lives!!(I'm not the Sox but I just said that for fun)

Re: Owner Mode Tips
Be warned, this is kind of long:
Well, it took 4 tries, but I finally made enough money by the end of my first year to buy level 2 seating. I had tried and failed to do it with the Pirates (I like a challenge), and decided not to buy level 2 seats at the start, preferring instead to buy 3-4 different concession stands and a shop that sells t-shirts, jackets, and sweatshirts. I traded away players like Matt Lawton, who was making 6 mil. a yr. to play RF for Pittsburgh, and got the payroll down into the 30's. Couldn't make the playoffs, of course. I tried keeping the players they had, adding some free agents. Couldn't make the playoffs.
Then, I decided to give it one more shot, and chose the 30th ranked Royals. I did not add seats right away, bought ice cream, pizza and sodas, and my usual merchandise shop. I kept the concession prices as is, lowered the jackets and sweatshirts one notch, and the t-shirts to $13. My tickets are $50/$25. I'm now entering the final month and a half of the season, and I have 4.3 million in the bank, just in time to buy more seats for a playoff run, since I'm 2 games back.
This is how I've done it so far, and I hope it helps someone else. In addition to using the tips on the board so far, you also have to find what your team's strength is. I noticed that the Royals triple-A team was quite highly ranked. This allowed me to trim just a few high priced folks off the roster, and promote from within. The Royals pitching is kind of weak, but they've got some decent arms down on the farm, so I brought them up. I kept a close eye on the standings screen, especially the runs scored, runs allowed stats. We were scoring more runs than anyone in the division, but giving up more too. It's true what other posters say, you have to make the playoffs, or at least be in contention to keep the fans coming in the second half. I kept demoting and calling up until I had the right pitching rotation to stay no more than 3-5 games back. I kept the ticket prices at 50/25 for the entire first half, and only when I sold 100% of my level one seats in the second half did I raise it to 60/30. When the season started, I gave away a promotion for every single home game that ranked below a 4 for the entire season, and even a few of those 4's here and there. Sometimes it was only a 1000 keychains, but it was something. So find your team's strength (promoting cheaply from the minors, you have power hitters so you sign a few front line arms), don't worry as much about trimming salary, because you'll need some of those pricey guys to stay in the hunt, and that's the key. Also give away something for every single game below a 4, and stay away from the all in one concession stands if you have a small market team. They cost more to run than you'll make, and the smaller stands do very well. Hope this helps!Comment

Originally posted by gopadresI started out doing a fantasy draft (wanted my team in owner mode to be different than my team in dynasty). I followed the advice of some in here to get cheap talent. I have David Wright, Doug Mirabelli, Brandon Webb, Jason Westbrook to name a few. I then went through (also on the advice from this thread) and scheduled a ton of promos. For the high impact games (7/10-10/10), I would raise ticket prices to 60-65 and 35-40. I had four concession stands and one store throughout the season. I was making around 500k-600k per home game.
Once I made it to playoffs, I bought a soda stand and one more store. I had 6 mill in the bank for the division series. I started making over 1 million per game. I'm one game into the NLCS and will hopefull be able to upgrade seating, scoreboard, and a few concessions by the end of the playoffs.
Definitely some good advice in here! Thank you.Comment

Re: Owner Mode Tips
The easiest way to win in Owner Mode
First, go to Roster Management on the Main Menu. Go to the Pirates and drop everyone but Oliver Perez, and Sean Burnett. Then pick up the worst guys and set your lineup. Save the roster and enter Owner Mode. Set the "Default Rosters" to Off and set budget to Large. Then go to Roster Management and go to Payroll. Sign all of your guys to 3yr. contracts for 300K each. Then go toCreate/Edit player. Edit all of your MLB players to your liking and still pay thm only 300K per yr. I had only a $35 Mil. payroll but won over 100 games and won the WS. I also turned a large profit.Originally posted by billmaticRadman is more like the ******** homeless man's version of Okur.Comment

Yes you gain revenue no matter where you play. So before you start the game you may play in your teams orignal home stadium and still accrue revenue. You will not get more revenue for playing at Yankee Stadium nor will you get less for playing at Kauffman Stadium (Royals) instead of your created park. You make money off that park only, so if you have 20,000 seats you can only make money off those 20,000 seats...hope this helps....NCAA Football
