      Here's for a season-crippling spring training injury.

Expect to see a lot of "mistake" pitches right across the plate to help Bonds reach the record this season.

I could see him leaving after this year, even without the record. Seems like he only really cares about beating Ruth.

It's too bad he's going to beat Ruth, but at least there's a good chance he won't get the record. Single Season record is a joke now, hopefully the lifetime record stays legit.

So he'll pass the Babe but leave Hammerin' Hank with the record.

                THANK GOD!

Now the HR record won't be tarnished by a man that did it through questionable means.

I'm sure the Bonds lovers will say "he would've broken the record if he played another year!"

I love it how Bonds has never been tested postive for roids. And yet so many say he has taken them. Their is no doubt Bonds is a jerk, but to call him a cheater without enough proof is wrong. Just because you can't stand a guy don't call him a cheater. This is America innocent until proven guilty.
And if he proven gulity than you can say all you want. Also he still looks pretty big to me. I thought once you are off the roids you shrink just ask I Rod!

I never called him a cheater I said he did things through questionable means. Last time I checked the "cream and clear" isn't exactly "legit" means of keeping one's body in shape.

                      Good article.

I'm not even going to respond to any of these other posts. I'm just going to go ahead and say good read.

You know that I'm going to the final Giants game this year with my boy Colin. Wouldn't miss it for the world.

I know what you are saying, but the cream is questionable. But maybe he didn't know what he was taking. I am not saying he did not know, but you never know. My uncle worksout in the same gym that Bonds workout in and he says he is always in there. I am just saying because he is a jerk, everybody wants him to be guilty. All I know their are alot of guys that have taking roids and are no where close to the talent of Bonds. If this guy was on your team you would feel different and that the truth. I will say one thing he is a jerk, but his talent will never be match in my opinion. This is the most fear batter to ever play. Just look at the walks!!!

I can see your point and I might feel differently if Bonds were a Blue Jay so I won't advance a played out argument.

I will say this, I prefered the Bonds of the Pittsburgh/early San Fran years.

I'm calling his bluff on a few levels.

The first, that is he is straight up lying about not wanting the record.

                            From the article:

"I've never cared about records anyway," Bonds said."
From an article posted on ESPN.com regarding the WBC:

Bonds has acknowledged how much he wants to break Aaron's record, but he also is still searching for his first World Series ring -- and he says that's his top priority.
The second bluff is this retirement talk. If he doesn't break the record this season, I am predicting he will be back to do it.

While many will question the validity of his records, he is not quitting until those records are broken.

This guy has proven that his word means nothing, and I am not sure why people should suddenly start believing what he says now.
