Originally posted by SkerikI stopped reading after this. But as they say, the best defense is a good offense. That's why Bonds walks around with a chip on his shoulder about how mistreated he is by everyone. By playing the "oh woe is me" card, it takes focus away from the great hoax he has perpetrated on the national pasttime.Comment

Originally posted by BlzerWell, in my mind, Bonds is cheated more than he himself has cheated.
Let's take the list:
- The obvious: intentional walks
- AT&T Park (don't even try and start an argument about their right field fence... you'll lose)
- Extreme defensive shifts
- Lack of fastballs in fastball counts
- Banged away, away, away with a changeup, sinker, backdoor slider.
- 41 years young and playing better than his quesitonable 2003 season with the "cream" and "clear" that he possibly knowingly took.
- The media.
I'll tell you right now that focus means a lot when you're on the baseball field, and it's even tougher to maintain. Even the greatest of hitters must be patient and focused knowing that 70% failure is a good thing. But it's hard to keep control over something like that. I play high school ball, and every time I fly out or ground out I get extremely pissed at myself. I can't believe what kind of mentality these guys have to accept failure like that.
So, when the media is up his *** every day, even when he's not on the field, it's hard to maintain control and focus, especially if this whole steroid debacle and the rumors that they created are not true. I could see Bonds turning red, knocking out every one of the press guys with his golf club, and unreportedly leaving the MLB. Hell, I would have by now. But he hasn't, though.
He gets so much more unfair treatment out there than anybody. If he leaves the game without a ring, it would be a disgrace. Not on his part... but on anybody that has been putting him to shame for so long. Steroids or not, unknowingly or not, you can't take him out of the Hall of Fame.Comment

Originally posted by ScottdThe bottom line is unless you were shooting up with him you don't know. I am not saying he didn't, but to call someone guilty because you don't like him his wrong. That is all I am saying. Unless he comes up positive we may never know.
And I'm saying my opinion of him does not factor into my assessment of whether or not he's a cheater. I am as unbiased as one can get on this issue. I am not a fan of Bonds nor do I hate him because he is a supposed jerk. I'm also not a huge fan of any of the guys in front of him on the all-time home runs list but just a baseball fan in general. I think Bonds and anyone else who has taken roids is a cheater and does nothing good for baseball. And to me, an unbiased person, it seems obvious he took roids and he admitted he took them one season.
And as far as that post about who managers would want to face with the bases loaded, what does that have to do with anything? Would you want your team to face some roided up hitter with the game on the line? I know I wouldn't. And I'm not sure every manager would say Bonds before they said Albert Pujols, he's the last guy I'd want to face in that situation.Comment

Seriously, the sympathy card is rediculous. Oh no, poor Barry, the media picks on him for cheating. For the amount of money he makes a year, he can deal with it. Maybe if he didn't cheat and was a nicer guy the media would adore him. He only has himself to blame.Comment

You Giants fans are so homer blind. He's a cheater like all the rest (- McGwire, Sosa, Giambi, Palmero etc) but because he's never been proven 100% knowingly guilty you hide behind that in every argument...Could he have been a goo/great player even without the stuff? probably could have but he decided to cheat.
He's been a cheater for years and its a disgrace to the game of baseball that we have to even consider him breaking more legitimate records. All their records and totals should be wiped from baseball forever.
The only thing Bonds has going for him is the fact that Sosa is the bigger cheater being on the juice AND playing w/ corked bats. What a joke baseball has become...Last edited by umd; 02-19-2006, 10:07 PM.Comment

All I am saying is you will never know unless he comes out and says it. That he took roids and knew it. That is all I am saying, everything else is speculation. But you guys can go on and call him quilty. It is cool. If he cheated I would be the first to call him a cheater. I just want to be fair and have proof before I condemn a man.Comment

Re: This year to be Bonds last.
I agree with that baseball has become a joke. But in all fairness that is what baseball wanted. Not the roids, but the HR. That is what they felt would fill the seats. And to tell you the truth I like the longball and so do the chicks lol. But for real a pitcher dual is boring. I know some will disagree. I just like more action.Comment
