All I know their are alot of guys that have taking roids and are no where close to the talent of Bonds. If this guy was on your team you would feel different and that the truth. I will say one thing he is a jerk, but his talent will never be match in my opinion. This is the most fear batter to ever play. Just look at the walks!!!
This was a good post in so many ways, but it's so easy to go off and say he's a jerk because of his reputation since entering the league. He's a big guy with a lot of authority... when he gets crushed by the "ants", he has to do something to step up and gain ground again. You read the article... he can't go anywhere without something or somebody keeping him awake all the time. The man can't sleep anymore. He can't even claim the game of baseball to be fun for him by only getting half of the at bats as all other starters because of how much he walks, and because of how every waking moment of his time on Sportscenter is a clip of his home run, followed by the steroid issue surrounding him.

Meet the guy on a good day, and there's nothing that you can do to claim his arrogance is consistent. He's a family man at heart... and retiring is probably the best thing going for him. For baseball? In my mind, it's not. I will miss him dearly, because the last 7 years watching him bat have been glorious. I really hope they win the World Series this year. He's come this far, and being (in my opinion) the greatest American baseball player of all time, steroids or not, the guy does not deserve some of the bad reps that he gets.

To the best of my knowledge (and that USAToday article states the same), both the cream and the clear are undetectable designer steroids. With that, there is no question in my mind that Barry took steroids. However, there is question whether he took them knowingly or not.

I've heard the argument many times that if Barry was on my team, I'd feel different and that's just not true. He was on my team and I hated him then. Jason Kendall was on my team and I hated him. Andy Van Slyke was on my team and I hated him. All 3 guys had one thing in common. They were all self-centered jerks who thought the World should revolve around them. I've had the opportunity to meet all 3 AWAY from the baseball field and all 3 were jerks (I didn't even ask any of them for autographs because that's not me. I've never asked anyone for an autographs). I know why Bonds was rude to me, but I'd open an entire can of works by stating it.

Because you didn't come up throwing a pathetic 15-bouncer to home plate from shallow left?

I met Bonds before, and he wasn't a jerk, but I will say I know a lot of people that say he was to them. I know this the press can make you or break you. So I don't mind Bonds being a jerk to the press. they are always looking for something to start a story. I know this when you have had your butt kiss as much as these guys have, it is hard not to change. being humble becomes that much harder. I would like to say I wouldn't change, but you never know. But I bet when Bonds was on your team you were glad he was. You can't not like having his numbers he put up for you guys!

Only the most optimistic, die-hard Bonds supporters could possibly believe the man did not cheat to get to where he is today. He's a fraud and to call him the greatest player to ever play the game is an insult to everyone to ever put on a uniform. I'll teach my kids to think of players like Aaron, Ruth, and Mays as the greatest to ever play the game. Guys like Bonds and McGwire will just be good players who needed to cheat to do what they did. I think it's a damn shame these guys will probably go into the Hall of Fame when they have disgraced the game of baseball more than someone like Pete Rose.

I don't mean this to be inflammatory or insulting, but I'm continually amazed at how many Giants fans have their heads up Barry's ***. Despite the entire rest of the league, and the media, thinking the guy is a world class jerk and almost positively a cheater, Giants fans will tell you he's a great guy, misunderstood, and completely innocent until proven guilty.

If I ever lose perspective to that extent about someone on the Phillies, you have my permission to slap me upside my head.

For a Giants fan, convincing everyone Bonds never cheated and is a great guy is like me, as a Red Sox, fan trying to convince everyone that David Ortiz has a shot at a 40-40 season.

You never know, you say he cheat because you don't like him, and I hear what you are saying, but until he comes up positive than you can't say everything you want lol. Just kidding you can say all you want, but you never know he could be innocent. I not saying he is, but you never know. I want blame someone until I know 100% he is quilty! That is all I am saying.

Re: This year to be Bonds last.

Well, in my mind, Bonds is cheated more than he himself has cheated.

                          Let's take the list:

                          - The obvious: intentional walks
                          - AT&T Park (don't even try and start an argument about their right field fence... you'll lose)
                          - Extreme defensive shifts
                          - Lack of fastballs in fastball counts
                          - Banged away, away, away with a changeup, sinker, backdoor slider.
                          - 41 years young and playing better than his quesitonable 2003 season with the "cream" and "clear" that he possibly knowingly took.
                          - The media.

I'll tell you right now that focus means a lot when you're on the baseball field, and it's even tougher to maintain. Even the greatest of hitters must be patient and focused knowing that 70% failure is a good thing. But it's hard to keep control over something like that. I play high school ball, and every time I fly out or ground out I get extremely pissed at myself. I can't believe what kind of mentality these guys have to accept failure like that.

So, when the media is up his *** every day, even when he's not on the field, it's hard to maintain control and focus, especially if this whole steroid debacle and the rumors that they created are not true. I could see Bonds turning red, knocking out every one of the press guys with his golf club, and unreportedly leaving the MLB. Hell, I would have by now. But he hasn't, though.

He gets so much more unfair treatment out there than anybody. If he leaves the game without a ring, it would be a disgrace. Not on his part... but on anybody that has been putting him to shame for so long. Steroids or not, unknowingly or not, you can't take him out of the Hall of Fame.
