Somewhat. I guess you really have to buy into it to feel that it's not. However, I'm hearing the same crap out of everybody's mouth every two seconds, and it's been done. He may have knowingly cheated... it didn't get him anywhere. 2003 was (by far) his worst season of all MVP seasons 2001 - 2004. Just because he cheated (and again, possibly knowingly) doesn't mean he benefited. There's no need to taint any records he may break, nor deny his ability to hit a ball a long, long way. Sosa? That man can't rake a pile of leaves. He desperately needs steroids (or a calmer swing) if he wants back in this league respectively. Hopefully Bonds can show a lot of people here, again, the great hitter that he is without medical aid.

If he can't handle pressure that for the most part he has brought on himself, I would love to see how he would take to an environment like Aaron had to live through. Perhaps Felipe and Dusty Baker should sit him down and let him know what it was like playing in Atlanta during the late sixties.
Yeah, but you live his life and you see how well you can handle it. When did people start speculating? After he had his best season.

I will agree with you on that. However, there are two types of focus: On the field, and off the field. Bonds' hate crimes are directed towards his on-field performance, and not the color of his skin off of the field. While the latter is much more devastating to you as a person, it should not detract from any baseball mentality. Maybe it will, maybe it won't. I don't know.

Besides (and don't let this issue carry on too far, I'm just getting it out there), there is no evidence that says Aaron didn't take any steroids back in that time period. I recall a thread on here a long time ago about a former baseball player admitting of some illegal steroids that were dispersed to a few players back when. Aaron could be atop the list, you never know.

Again, I was just throwing that out there. Don't make much of that... I don't believe he is for one second.

I don't have to live through his life, I'm not a professional athlete. My (in)ability to live through what Bonds has is completely irrelevent to the situation.

Which was also the time when widespread steroid use first became well know. It's not like he started hitting homers and out of nowhere people started fingering him as a cheater. Rumors began circulating that there was a huge steroid problem in MLB and based on the individuals being pin-pointed as the major suppliers, Bonds became a very suspicious individual. It was certainly a culmination of many things that lead to Bonds being the major accused here, not simply the fact that he started hitting homeruns at an astronomical pace.

So you're basically saying flat out that you'll blindly defend Bonds, because you admire him. Why even post in these threads if you're admitting a bias that makes your opinion pretty much worthless to the discussion?

Let the guy defend his guy, what's wrong with that? Everyone has biases. Everyone here hates Bonds, so theyre gonna use their hatred in their arguments and will look for information to confirm their bias.
