Where'd you hear that? Proctor has been lights out since the All-Star break when Torre had an epiphany and decided its not a good idea to pitch your middle relief man 65 innings in the second half of the year. We need all the bullpen guys we need especialy with Dotel being set back and we'd have no use for Betemit other than an infield replacement which is what Cairo will be when Cano comes back in the next 2 weeks.

Tell me about it. He's just not good when he has to pitch often. Torre said he wasnt going to use him tonight but Farnsworth got hurt apparently and Beam crap the bed so he was the only other option.

That would be highway robbery by the Yankees to get Betemit for Proctor. Proctor is a middle reliever and Betemit has the talent to be a starter. I think the Braves should try to find a way to get Betemit into the lineup on a daily basis, not trade him.

I agree, but the problem is, we don't have anywhere to play him. SS, 3B, and 2B are all on lock down. I think we have to deal either him or Giles, but they should have more value than Scott Proctor.

Carlos Lee To Be Dealt To Rangers

The Brewers are trading slugger Carlos Lee to the Rangers as part of a multi-player deal, ESPN's Keith Law has learned. The Brewers are sending Lee, Nelson Cruz and a player to be named to Texas for reliever Francisco Cordero and outfielders Kevin Mench and Laynce Nix. Both teams are working on the medicials.

Lee is a big time hitter. Talk about getting .75 cents on the dollar.

Mench is a quality hitter but Nix has not reached the "potential" everyone thought he would. And Cordero is a shell of his former self but I guess with Turnbow crapping the bed lately they could use him.

Wow...I really hope the Brewers at least tried to get John Danks, Thomas Diamond, or Edison Volquez...

His Brewers career ended when he turned down a 4-year, $48 million contract.

I don't mind the trade, as long as the Brewers actually use that money they offered Lee and use it in the free agent market...

Consider me confused by this trade based on the return the Brewers got here. Cordero, Mench, and Nix for Lee and a good minor league OF? I don't get that.

Cordero has been terrible this year. Mench is alright, but he hasn't hit in 3 months. He has some good pop, but he's ok at best. Nix is horrible. All that for Lee, a guy who is a stud outfielder? Poo on that. Texas made a great move here. Of course, they still have no pitching.

And no, I don't hate this trade only because I am a Derrick Turnbow and *sob* Dan Kolb owner. Although this does definitely hurt my team if Cordero turns into the closer..

I guess its not a bad trade when you consider he needs a new contract.

I got a feeling the Astros will trade for Soriano or Tejada.

I think its a pretty fair deal for the Brewers.

I mean, Cordero was very good from 2002 to 2005, and this year his ERA on the road is 3.20. He will benefit from moving to the NL.

Mench is only 28 years old, and will cost a lot less than what Lee is going to be payed. And he has put up good numbers the last few years, even outside of Texas.

And Laynce Nix...maybe he will live up to the hype? They currently have 33 year old Brady Clark in center, Nix could be given time to develop.
