Re: Chipper Jones a HOF'er?
players like Griffey, Chipper, and such deserve it.. why? not only did they excel on the field, but to me, they seem to actually ENJOY the game and CARE about the game.. even though I "dislike" (hate is such a strong word) the Braves, it has been (and is) always "intriging" to watch a Jones' at bat..

Re: Chipper Jones a HOF'er?
Yes he's a HOF'er and you can write it in pen. I do not like the Braves one bit but I have always enjoyed watching Chipper play and he has played at an All-Star level throughout his career. What 3B, all-time, in the NL can you compare his career to Chipper's and he isn't in the HOF?Comment

Here's a recent article about how Chipper has stayed clear of the steroid rumors:

Re: Chipper Jones a HOF'er?
I agree he isn't a shoo-in. Reading his stat line made me realize he has great numbers (better than I thought), but I'm not sure they are good enough. I've never thought to myself that he was one of the best 10 active position players in the game at any point during his career (and I lived in ATL for 3 of those years). Honestly I would think he would be as publicized as anyone with the Braves on TBS and good during his entire career.
His numbers are better than I thought they were though....it's funny, I remember Dale Murphy being a much better player in his time (compared to the rest of the league) than Chipper during this era. Murphy's effective career was much shorter than Chipper's though, and his numbers aren't close to as good when you look at the stats.
Tough call....I'll assume he gets to 450 HRs and it gets him in....he isn't going to be a first ballot guy if I had to guess right now though.Comment

Re: Chipper Jones a HOF'er?
He is definitely a lock in my book if you consider the fact that he only trails Mickey Mantle and Eddie Murray on the all-time switch hitters career home run list. But in the end I think he will get in based on the fact that he is the only switch hitter in Major League Baseball history to have a .300+ career batting average and more than 300 home runs.Comment

Anyone who names their kid Shea gets in!
...but only if has a few more good seasons.
Really good/great player.......Until we got D.W. I would have loved to have had him on my squad!

Re: Chipper Jones a HOF'er?
True, But I think he is too good of a hitter to have a major decline phase. That of course is assuming he doesn't stick around until he's in his 40's.Comment

Re: Chipper Jones a HOF'er?
I agree. Consider if he would of played 20 more games last year and not miss a month. He would of had some ridiculous numbers for his age.Seattle Pilots GM (2011 - ) Record: 152 - 195

Re: Chipper Jones a HOF'er?
If he can stay healthy for 3 or 4 more years, I think he's in. He needs to get over 400 HR, the MVP is a plus and so are the seasons with 100+RBI in a row. He really is the heart and soul of the Atlanta Braves, but that hasn't helped Dale Murphy get into the Hall. IMO, he's in, but my avatar says I'm biased."A two count is routine. You kick out at two if you aren’t done. Kicking out at one is a MESSAGE. It says NO in capital letters. A middle finger. A promise that the other man is going to have to kill you if they’re going to put you down." ~ Brandon StroudComment
