    Where Will Jake Peavy Land?

I would imagine the Padres would be smart enough not to send him to the Dodgers or any other division rival. I'd love for the Yankees to land him, but I can't see it happening.

My best bet is the Cardinals. Darkhouse being the Braves.

    http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3647795

The San Diego Padres have begun to exchange names with teams interested in All-Star pitcher Jake Peavy, in what appears to be an aggressive effort to maximize return on the right-hander, who is signed to a contract that keeps him under a team's control through 2013. And increasingly, it seems that team won't be the Padres.

Peavy has a no-trade clause and could conceivably kill all proposed deals. But Peavy is open, in particular, to playing for National League contenders, sources say. The Atlanta Braves, who went into this offseason devoted to a pursuit of frontline starting pitching, are among the teams "hot" on Peavy, according to one source. San Diego, too, is said to be willing to deal with the rival Dodgers, who could conceivably have some excellent young players to dangle, like outfielder Matt Kemp and pitchers Clayton Kershaw and James McDonald. The Padres intended to wait until the Dodgers completed their playoff run before engaging in serious talks with L.A.

Right now, the best offers I've seen (rumored or not), are the Braves, and the Cubs. I've heard a lot coming from LA though.

I hope the Padres retain him, but as long as the Padres management is run by a pack of ******** monkeys, I'm not going to hold my breath.

He will be a Brave IMO. It's a perfect fit all around...they have the parts to make a deal, the money to take on Peavy's deal, and the fact that he's from Alabama helps.

Just can't see him going to the Dodgers, the Pads FO would absolutely get roasted if they traded their best player to an in division rival.

I'm a die-hard Cardinals fan. Hit me with a trivia question and I got it no problem. I'm 18 and have watched the Cardinals since Nolan Ryan was still pitching.

The Cardinals have the assets to make the deal for Peavy but IMHO they won't pull the trigger. Not after the Dan Haren-Mark Mulder deal that flopped. They don't want to trade the farm.

On the other hand, this is a new GM with a newish FO. Can they get the deal done? Yes.

          Will they? No.

          My bet: Atlanta

And for giggles and my wishes, Darkhorse: Cardinals

I would kill for him to come to Atlanta, but we NEED to have a long-term deal in place.

That said, well probably trade for him and he'll get hurt in June.

EDIT: Completely forgot he signed a long-term deal already.

Hey, the WBC is happening this year again. Last time around, he got hurt during that, and ended up going 11-14 with a 4.09 ERA. If Atlanta does land him, they better make sure he doesn't play again this year.

                Ok, all jokes aside now..

I wouldn't be surprised if Chicago made a move for him. They might feel as though another good pitcher is the missing link to Winning the World series.

Supposedly they are already. I have no proof to this except internet rumors, but supposedly, there is something along the lines of Ryan Theriot, Felix Pie, Jason Marquis, Rich Hill, and Tyler Colvin, just for Peavy.

Once again, no basis but internet speculation, but if this is the case, the Cubs would be willing to go pretty high, and adding Jake to the lineup over Marquis would make the Cubs starting lineup rival that of the mid-90's Braves rotation IMO.

And yet, if they can't score runs, they'll go nowhere.

Peavy has a full no trade clause, so I doubt he goes anywhere he doesn't want to go. Atlanta is my pick.
