    Re: Oliver Perez

I won't put anything past Towers, the guy is a witch as far as I'm concernred. Everybody freaked out when they started pulling apart that 1998 team, please tell me where all those guys are now. I think the only guy they blew it on was Finley, because he's had some productive years since he left. You are right though, I can see the Yankees making a push for Vlad and maybe he Dodgers going after Tejada, but I won't be surprised in the least if one of them ends up in PETCO. Guys have wanted to come to San Diego for years, but the team hasn't had the money to give them, the new park will change that.

The nature of his latest injury makes it chronic. Several players have made it back from that, and have done great since then, though. Just look at Kenny Lofton.

And that's not even the whole team. Guys like Miceli, Wall, Leyritz, Hernandez, Sheets(Oh yeah, who did we get for him?), to name a few. That team was a one year deal anyway. Towers knows how to put a team together, and he will do it again.

Oh yeah, Vaughn basically turned into Klesko, so that looks like a pretty good deal to me.

Nevin will still have some pop... but that shoulder will be a problem forever. If he stays with the Padres... I think he'll suit better as a fifth guy in the lineup behind Nady and Klesko... or sixth if Kotsay continues to bat third.

Kotsay doesn't have the power to be a true number 3 hitter. They would be better off with him hitting 2nd, Klesko 3rd, maybe Nady and then Nevin to protect him.

Gwynn wasn't a power type hitter.
