They just showed a Cubs game on MLB Network end on a flyball dropped in left from years ago. I should have known a Cubs game had ended in such a fashion.
Isn't that essentially how it's based already? I may be mistaken, but I could've sworn that they rotate the divisions year to year. The only difference being that those with rivalries replace one of those switches with their "rivalry series." It's obviously not as rigid and organized as the NFL...I'm just talking core concept.

As for the Cubs history, be careful...lol. It wouldn't surprise me one bit to see OUR team has done it at one time or another too...lol.

I feel like the Red Sox have played the Braves and Phillies every year for awhile now. I'm even in favor of getting rid of the rivalry games but as a fan of the Red Sox you know as well as I do that there is no NL rival for them to face. I know New Yorkers enjoy their subway series, but I don't know how the state of Missouri feels about Royals-Cardinals or Florida with Rays-Marlins. Though now that I think about, I bet Cardinals fans are quite pleased their team gets to play the usually hapless Royals each year.

Believe it or not, other than the 2002 season, the series has been pretty even. The Royals won the season series last year and have won 8 out of the 15 including this season.

What is with the brainless play on Friday?? First you get Milton Bradley being stupid and forgetting how many outs there are and he was being dumb on the bases then Luis Castillo forgets to close his glove on a a routine pop up.

This is after we see Bourn make a pretty nice catch on Thursday.

I swear a few years back a one-game playoff ended somewhat like this, only it was a routine fly ball to the outfield. It might not have been the last play of the game, but it should have been the last out. Then later the team that made the error lost. I want to say the Astros were involved.

Then again, I might just be making things up in my head.

The game you guys are talking about was in 1998...the Cubs were trying to clinch the wild card when Brant Brown dropped a routine fly in left field that would have ended the game. If I recall correctly it was against the Brewers. That allowed the Giants to tie the Cubs and they had to play a one game playoff. The Cubs won anyway, so Brant was off the hook.

It's like the Mets are trying to have more bloopers in '09 then the '62 team. At least they can score runs though.

Hoping the Jays can win this afternoon with Casey Jannsen on the hill. He's looking better and better with each outing and i've always liked his stuff.

The Jays can't beat the NL.

                            That's.....sad.

EDIT: My memory was off a bit...the game was July 22, 1997. Maddux threw 76 pitches, but 63 were strikes (that's insane when you think about it). Here is the box score:

Man, the Twins own the NL. They are 5-0 this year so far, and since 2006 they are a ridiculous 46-13 in interleague play. Total and utter domination.
