    Re: 6/8-6/14 MLB Discussion

Wang's stuff was good tonight, mid 90's sinker, and he threw some great breaking balls. Control was awful though. Some of it at least seems like it could be his confidence. He threw so many pitches in the dirt, like he was so afraid of leaving the ball up that he over compensated.

The stuff is there, I don't think he is done or anything, but I don't know how they are going to get him fixed. Can't send him back to the minors, he pitched good in the pen already, he needs to do it starting, but they can't keep sending him out there and getting less than 3 innings.

Tough loss, a lot of pressure on CC tomorrow.

As a Braves fan, I hope that they end up the NLCS. That being said, if they don't I WANT a Mets/Phils NLCS. Can you imagine how intense a 7 game series between these two teams would be? I am enjoying their rivalry more than any other in the game...so much fire and sincere dislike between the teams. Even when they play in the regular season it feels like a postseason game.

It was great to watch JV dominate the White Sox tonight. I especially loved the way he went after Jim Thome in the 9th with heaters for the last two strikes of that strikeout despite giving up a homer to him in the previous at-bat.

On the center field camera they use for the NESN broadcast it looked like Wang had very little movement on his sinker in the first inning. I was on the road for the rest of his outing so I didn't get to see it but his velocity was there, but the sinker just had a little tail on it and not much else. He threw a couple good ones (such as the pitch Bay singled on, and the one Kotsay grounded out on), but a lot of bad ones. I'm a patient guy so I look on the calendar and see its still June and give the guy another start or two before I make any decisions, but it is alarming at just how he hasn't even been competitive.

CC will feel some pressure tomorrow until he sees who's pitching for the Sox. I expect the Yankees to let out their frustration on Penny and knock him around, assuming the rain holds off. It's nearly impossible to go 8-0 against any team, let alone a good one.

            I don't want it.

I want a Dodgers/Phillies rematch. Don't care if the Mets make it or not.

I was at the game, so much fun. Ramirez (who has been great all year) made it interesting.....Pap shuts it down.

The last A-Roid at bat was great, my section got a "you took steriods" chant going that got picked up by most of the crowd.

Hopefully Penny doesn't suck tomorrow and we can steal one from CC

Finally broke our 5 game losing streak, and Pujols getting a hit. Fellas had me worried for a minute.. hope we can string together a couple wins right now.

Nats are definitely passing the 1962 mets. They're the only team without 20 wins (15) and have an 8.5 game lead on the 2nd-worst team in baseball. They're currently one loss away from being on-pace for the 62 Mets, yet their manager is still chillin' in the dugout every night.

Has any team ever had consecutive 100+ loss seasons to open a new ballpark? The Lerners sure have done a great job with Kasten's "plan."

I dare anyone to find a better 1-2 punch in the league right now than Verlander & Jackson in Detroit. I'm not being cocky, I really want to know. Our lineup has been geared more to defense and we're not scaring anyone at bat, but those two are lights out. Once we get healthy and if we can find a good bullpen pitcher, we could be scary come playoff time. It's amazing how an average lineup can succeed with stud starting pitching. It's also great to FINALLY be able to beat the White Sox. They've owned us for years.

We tried to give you guys a win tonight after the rain delay.

BTW the sound of the crowd made it sound like a H.S. game. I swear only like 15 people stuck out the 2 hr. rain delay.

Well the Jays and Rangers got rained out (what a doozy) last night so it at least allows me to talk about a roster move. The Jays picked up David Delucci (sp?) to a minor league deal. If he hits well in Las Vegas he'll be called up and take over on a platoon basis at DH.

I'm hopeful that his time in Cleveland was more due to him not fitting in there rather then losing his skill with the bat as he is/was one of the better bats out there and a great clubhouse guy.

I would like to the thank the Jays for taking him off of Cleveland's hands. He has done nothing the past three seasons. About the only thing he can do now is wrestle alligators lol.
