Re: Welcome to Boston, Adrian...
I was just kidding.
The Red Sox would love to be like the small market teams and dump every good young player they have when it's time for a pay day. They hate having to acquire these all star players. They would rather give Lance Berkman $5 million to play first base. But the big bad Yankees made them make this trade.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

Re: Welcome to Boston, Adrian...
There is a clear indication they drive the market value up for players. You just have to see the last few contracts they did, even for bums.
But we can argue this all day long though.
Either way, I am happy the Sox got this guy.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Not the typical free agent, we outbid your team cause we have gobbles of money flow.

Not happy about the trade, but I see the business side of it. Still sucks pretty hardcore though. At least he's not a Yankee (my wife's a Red Sox fan).Through music, you can live forever...TEAMS: San Diego Chargers, San Diego Padres, Notre Dame Fighting IrishComment

Re: Welcome to Boston, Adrian...
About time. Adrian's basically been asking for it for the past couple of years.
Good riddance despite how great a player he was. Hey Adrian, you no longer have an excuse for slumping in the middle of the season anymore.Comment

There. I opened the Dunn thread back up if anyone wants to talk about it. You can make threads for actual trades or worthwhile signings. I don't want to see threads on Miguel Tejada or Yorvit Torrealba signing.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

And the fact alone that Boston feels it can get rid of all those prospects and come out for the better should tell you something.Comment

He's been asking for it by averaging 32 HR/100 RBI/100 runs per season since coming to SD? Funny. Every time he was asked, he kept talking about how much he wanted to stay in SD.Through music, you can live forever...TEAMS: San Diego Chargers, San Diego Padres, Notre Dame Fighting IrishComment

I hope this is a case of a NL guy not translating well to the AL.
I would then laugh at this. Knowing my luck though that won't be the case.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Welcome to Boston, Adrian...
good to see A-Gon going to a place where he has a better shot at playing in the postseason, thus leading to a ring. The Padres had a chance last year and folded under the pressure. He's done enough in San Diego and things don't seem to be changing anytime soon(yes I'm aware they were in contention last year and I'm also aware they folded and were more than likely a fluke), so its best to move on while he's still productive.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
