that's easy for you to say. You have zero clue what it's like being on the other side of the proverbial fence.Comment

Re: Welcome to Boston, Adrian...
But Hoyer did the pitching and defense thing with a fraction of Theo's budget, within a game of the playoffs. He's a phenominal young baseball mind, and with his ties to the system he helped build, you're getting 3 great young players. I'm actually really sad to see Kelly go. Rizzo is a great bat with some significant power potential, and Fuentes has Ellsbury-like speed and could roam CF for years.
Probably doesn't help you feel better abouting losing a guy like AGone. But from my perspective, I sure don't feel like we fleeced anyone. I think it's a necessary move for both teams. We backed ourself into a corner needing a guy like that, and SD would see him go before the deadline anyway. I seriously hope all 3 of them pan out for you.Comment

Re: Welcome to Boston, Adrian...
I do agree for sure that I have no clue as to what it's like being a fan of a small market team. The situation sucks, I know that much and can agree with that. My only point was that I just don't see how it's somehow unreasonable for a Red Sox fan (or Yankees fan for that matter) to be happy when their team pulls off a long awaited move.
As for my opinions on why baseball is declining, I just look at the popularity and pace of other sports and it's easy to see that baseball can't keep up casual popularity as well. I'm sure the markets don't make it easier and are a factor as well, but I don't think it's the predominant one is all....no biggie though.
Regardless, I honestly hope the prospects work out for you guys. I think, potential wise, SD got a solid group. Obviously, it remains to be seen if they pan out. Bear in mind, this isn't me telling you to like it...lol...only giving you my opinion.Comment

Re: Welcome to Boston, Adrian...
Don't care as the previous group also failed to keep their promises. Now with the new group the budget is even smaller.
Because they caught lightning in a bottle and missed the playoffs by one game doesn't mean they get a free pass.
If they had another stick or two then they probably make the playoffs. So what do they do to follow it up? They trade the one legit major league bat they have.
The inequity in baseball is disgusting and it unfortunately is turning me off a sport that I love dearly. The rich get richer and no one gives a crap. Oh well at least we get Red Sox fans telling us they did us a favor.Comment

I personally don't either.

Besides why does it matter? Even if they do develop SD will just end up trading them back to you for prospects.Last edited by bkrich83; 12-05-2010, 12:06 PM.Comment

Just out of curiosity, when do you think this all started? I ask because when you look at the 80s, baseball was not really like this. The Yankees still spent money but the difference wasnt so vast. So, at what point do you think baseball started down the slippery slope?Comment
