Brewers avoid going to Arby's with Shaun Marcum.

Good news. Now it's time to work on an extension.

Idk Day.... I would rather the Crew lock up Greinke instead... Peralta will be ready to take Marcum's spot next year...

Apparently Manny Ramirez wants another shot at the big leagues and has narrowed it down to the A's, O's and Jays. (yeah ok, whatever)

Sorry if this was posted earlier.

So glad the O's are continuing to go after 35+ year old guys that were in their prime in 2004.

Orioles swap Gurthie to Rockies for Hammel and Lindstrom.

I like this move for the Orioles, I don't know about the Rockies...

I like it for the Rockies; Hammel was way too inconsistent and Lindstrom wasn't an irreplacable guy in the bullpen.

Guthrie is a gamble, for sure.

You might be the only one.

This team is such a joke...yeah Dan Duquette, stocking up on mediocre pitchers is really the key to success.

Well they probably weren't going to extend Gurthie and I doubt anyone else is going to offer the farm for him.

Cespedes is traveling to Miami today to meet with his agent, will tour Marlins new park tomorrow and other teams will eventually make their way down to Miami.

From the sounds of it the Marlins have become the frontrunners again

Rumor I saw on Rotoworld had AJ Burnett going to the Pirates for Garrett Jones but the Pirates turned the Yankees down. I'm trying to figure out why. Don't the Bucs have plenty of guys in their system/on the team that could play at 1B, including Alavrez? Why not take a chance on Burnett?

Yea I don't understand the Pirates love with Garrett Jones... I would trade him for AJ (even tho he is garbage now) but I still would do it based on what AJ can be.

I don't see why the Pirates would have interest in Burnett. He's lost velocity on his fastball and has been wildly inconsistent throughout his career. This stint in New York was predicated by a majority of people before and during the signing. Everyone knew he was outperforming his ability that last year in Toronto. Yankees still bit and now they are facing the reality of making a dumb move.

I've been reading Yankee fan responses to this potential deal and I realize more and more how fans are so out of tune with the world around them. They see things through the lens of their team.

Every comment is on how the Pirates should make the move because the Yankees don't need Burnett blocking Hughes or Nova. Since when should the Pirates care how this affects the Yankees?

Because the Yankees would be paying, from what I'm reading anyway, all but $8 million over two years. From a Pirates perspective, it's a cheap SP who, despite his flaws, still has some upside. I think AJ would benefit great from getting out of NY and the American league.

I don't think that he'll be Cy Young quality, but also you have to realize that if he goes to the Pirates, he won't have Pujols or Fielder in his division anymore. They're leaving to the AL, so that division automatically becomes a little easier.
