So stoked on landing Reyes. Hanley is a below-average SS fielding-wise so I'm fine with him moving to third. Bonifacio will likely slide to CF and is a great fit there with his speed and range. Now let's break the bank and get Pujols.

They said they are now in full focus on Pujols, rather they try to land the other 1B available but if they could somehow pull that off i'd flip

Hope someone trades for him. I'll pack his bags, drive him to the airport and buy him McDonalds at the airport terminal and then not say bye to him.

man, the Mets didn't even make an offer to Reyes?
          I am shocked.

I guess the Mets FO is in full on tank mode.
          Bye Bye David Wright.

I guess that puts Jason Bay on the cover of the Media Guide by default.

I seriously think Pujols could go to Miami next.
They will also add a starter.

If your a Mets fan, this can't be a fun day.

The Globe and Mail/Sportsnet's Jeff Blair is doing his show all week at the Winter Meetings. He's poo pooed the Fielder rumors but says that the Jays have reversed their stance on not giving no trade contracts and thus may be in the running for Mark Buerhle. Blair also reported that the Jays have been talking a ton with Atlanta and are eying Martin Prado and Jair Jurgens.

I don't think Jurgens would do well in the AL East and Prado is a guy that could very easily fall off the cliff but as far as stopgap/depth moves I could live with it as long as the Jays don't give up much. There's also talk that the Jays are now looking at Cordero for the closer position.

                  Quite the opposite.
When he WANTS to.....he can be a great player.
When he decides..."this is good enough, I don't need to try harder"...you want to choke him.
I wanted to choke him more than cheer him.

The O's want to be in on Fielder.

Also, the Brewers may have an offer in on Aramis Ramirez. 3 years with an option for a 4th.

Alderson was going to talk to Reyes's agent but looks like Reyes never gave him a chance, it was pretty much a given that he was going to Miami. I share Knight's sentiments when comes to Reyes signing else where.

After their pursuits of Vladimir Guerrero (the first time), Carlos Delgado, and Mark Teixiera, I'm ignoring all Orioles/Prince talks. The only article I'll read related to that is the one that says "Orioles sign Fielder", and I don't think that will happen. They should certainly look into it, though.

Well Polanco posted like a .650 OPS last year and isn't exactly the best hitter. He never has been the prettiest when it comes to stats other than batting average. But there is something about his game, must be the intangibles, that makes him such a solid player. When he was in Detroit, he was really one of hte most valuable players even though there was so many great hitters around him, you could always count on him. Jim Leyland loves him.

I'll take his glove, a .290 average gladly. Even though he's not great when it comes to secondary statistics, and is owned 7.5 million, I'd take him. He's a great guy to hit 2nd in the lineup, and a reunion just makes sense. He never should have left, the Tigers have used 6 second basemen in 2 seasons without him. He's still much better than Inge or Kelly ever were.

Hanley and Reyes will play the same amount of time at shortstop. Reyes in an injury machine and is only getting older. I don't think there is any way he stays on the field enough this year, the next year, or the year after that, to make this contract look alright. Hanley can complain about moving positions, but soon enough he'll be right back at Short when Reyes pulls something which won't take long.

106 million, 28, been 5 years since he was injury free.

The only season Reyes missed an inordinate amount of playing time was 2009. The last two seasons he still ended up with more than 600 PA.
