Re: The Hot Stove League Thread

My mistake, he was healhty in 2008.

But look at these last 3. He's missed at least 30 games each year with leg injuries. They aren't going away. As he gets older, his legs just become weaker and it will take longer to recover.

If he's been missing at least 30 when 27,28 in top physical shape, how much is he going to miss when he's 31, 32, and not in the best shape anymore? He's not going to get any stronger and his knees are already messed up.

I would love to be wrong, I love the Marlins. But the odds aren't in their favor.

Here....I'll just come out and say it....
      Reyes dogs it. ....A LOT...
He will be phenomenal this year on his high of a new contract and new city.
After that.....only when he feels like it.
Watching him dog it down the line on a routine grounder when he's hitting .300 is infuriating.
Watch when he's in one of his slumps. BLECK!

And you add in that Hanley Ramirez is the same way....things could get ugly there. There is already a lot of rumors out there that Hanley isn't very ecstatic about the move.

With guys like this, when things are going good, it's awesome. But when there's a little conflict, it gets ugly and fast. Both of these personalities could be a big issue at times. Ozzie has some work to do.

I think they'll be fine. I think Ozzie is the perfect manager for those two slackers.

It hurts when the media talks crap about you but when Ozzie curses those guys out on television and then benches them, they'll come out and play hard the next day.

I think unless St. Louis matches, Pujols is going to Miami. The culture there. The new manager. Reyes. The growing payroll and fan base. Pujols is gonna feel he's playing for DR again.

i remember the end of the season series vs the Marlins when the mets blew that division lead and Reyes was acting the fool in that one.

plus the bunt hit and taking himself out of the game to preserve his lead in the Batting title incident this year in the finale.
                among others.

I know there are Met fans that hate him, but a lot loved him and its always tough to see a homegrown head out of town, especially in the division.

So there r many who are not liking this day.
Some don't care about his attitude.

Me? he's not the kind of player I root for.

But do you think some of the people that booed him on the final day of the season aren't a bit upset that he's gone?

Brewers desperately need a clean up hitter or Braun will set a record for number of intentional walks this year... Come on Doug get ARam before the Angels, Tigers or Phillies do...

Fun fact: the only jersey number besides 42 that has been retired by the Marlins is 5. So if pujols signs with us, he will have to change numbers.

Right after the season ended, before the Reyes/Bell/Pujols talk was even a thought on anyone's mind, the Marlins beat writers were saying they were targeting Aramis in free agency. So it wouldn't surprise me if we don't land Pujols if we try and "settle" for bringing in Aramis to play 3B.

Miami wants to be the Latin face for baseball. I love to see Loria and Samson finally doing ****, instead of their baseless crap they usually do. Hopefully if the Marlins sign Pujols, the Dodgers can make a run at Gaby Sanchez.

Do you really want gaby? I mean, he's great the first couple months of the season but seems to drop off in august/september.
