But if the Rangers had re-signed CJ and signed Pujols it would have been a super awesome deal with no regrets, right?

      No doubt.

When huge deals like this happen there is bound to be bitterness about. It is a given and quite understandable.

      Pujols & CJ?

Wow that is a lot of cash.

No, it would have been the Alex Rodriguez/ Chan Ho Park deal all over again. It's great when you have a player that can perform, but you don't base your deals off of what players have done in the past. You base them for what's going on in the future. Now the Angels have $$250 tied up in Pujols for ten years without the option of being traded? You also pay a number two guy 5/77 who has reached his ceiling? Not only that, but the Angels have to lock up Haren and Santana after the end of next year, and it's probably not possible to sign both (if not neither of them). The Angels are in win now mode indeed. That's fine if they win now. It's humiliating if they don't.

2001 Texas Rangers all over again. Good thing we've learned our lesson.

I'm sad Pujols is leaving the Cardinals. Can't believe he took the money over them.
I gotta agree that 10 years is crazy because in recent memory one player, Barry Bonds, has actually played up to par past 35ish years old. I mean, look at Alex Rodriguez. Injury problems and diminished production.

Being an A's fan, I love that the Angels are still on the hook for another few years with Wells at about $26-$27 per year.

10 is crazy for an NL Team. It's not as bad for an AL Team. I still expect him to play at an elite level for 4-5 Years.

We'll see when they sign Fielder to a 10/250 deal.

It's $21mil p/yr for the next 3yrs....but yeah, still a big waste of money. We have Tony Reagins to thank for that trade.

I don't see anyone going more than 6 Years for Fielder.. Could be wrong though.

I think Rangers will be in on Darvish, if they don't get him expect them to heat up conversations for Garza.

For those asking "why" on Darvish: Comes down to cash available and talent evaluation. Rangers will spend on their own players this winter.
Which means that we're fine with the current team going forward while resigning Napoli, Kinsler, Andrus, Cruz and Hamilton.

There is no source but I'm sure the Rangers are going to be all over Fielder now that the Angels landed Pujols. They're talking about it right now on ESPN and MLBN. Wouldn't surprise me if Fielder gets a 10/250 from the Marlins or the Rangers. We'll see what happens and I'll be curious to see your reaction to it.

I'm sure there'll all of a sudden become lots of "lifelong" Angels fans.

You know he's going to want 10yrs for his client after the Pujols deal.
