Wow ... I can't believe it. I really thought he'd retire after this year as a Mariner. Had no idea a trade was gonna happen. Shocking indeed. And to the Yankees of all teams. Certainly don't blame the team for the move of course. Was never sure what he would be worth in a trade. Apparently not much.

Hopefully he does well. I'll be rooting for him. Good move for Ichiro and the Mariners.

I just hope the fans appreciate what Ichiro contributed to the organization. He had an amazing career here, despite the decline the last couple of years.

Verlander-Sanchez-Fister-Scherzer in the playoffs? A potential solution at 2B? Sounds good to me.
Turner was our top pitching prospect but Castellanos has to be top overall. But yeah, with how Smyly has done, we didn't NEED Turner anymore, plus he strikes me as Porcello 2.0

Honestly shocked the Mariners got anything for Ichiro. Dude hasn't hit for two years now and never walked. I don't think this helps the Yanks and now the Mariners are rid of his contract.

As for the Braves/Dempster, I kind of hope it doesn't happen. I want Greinke, not a 35 year old pitcher who has been on a hot streak.

I think the trade to the Yankees is also a nice gesture by Jack Z.

I have no doubt Ichiro will get a standing ovation tonight. Partly because there will be more Yankees fans in attendance and all 7 M's fans in attendance will appreciate what he's done.

9th in the Yankees lineup vs. 9th in the Mariners lineup is kinda different though.

I wish I could be there tonight. I work a block away from Safeco Field but have class tonight. DAMN IT.

Skip it. These are extenuating circumstances.

I think the trade was great for the Yankees. What they gave up was well worth a chance on Ichiro hoping it can rejuvenate him to play for a contending team. They gave up a guy who they claimed off waivers earlier this year and a guy that's upside is that of a back-end starter or more likely a bullpen arm. Ibanez and Jones can go back to splitting time at DH, which is the reason why they were signed in the offseason.

Yeah, extremely low risk trade. Really benefits both teams, but most of all, Ichiro. He despises losing and finally gets another chance at a ring.
