The Truth can't be wrong... after all he's The Truth. Expect Vlad back in Montreal May 1st... Or in LA, wondering where all the Dominicans are.

In all seriousness, the Mets could be the lowest common denominator in the Vlad equation.

According to this full post, there have been two official "Truths".

Since when do guys like Vlad wait 2 months into a season to play ball, just for the money? Since when does that even make sense in ANY Universe? Just give up on Montreal, because it's NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. PERIOD.

As for the Mets being the "Lowest common denominator"....could you explain how you come up with this answer to the equasion? I'm sorry, but what does the guy want:

      Good Dominican Fans
      Cash
      A Place to be needed
      NL

      Mets:
Good Dominican Fans, tons of Mets fans in NY
      Not much Cash
They NEED a Right Fielder....when I say need, it's not a big enough word to describe how badly they need it
What do ya know, National League team.

Vladi would be the Star on the team, there's no doubt about that. None at all. You know how much players like Vladi like to be the center of attention, and he would be. So whats that....4 out of 5?

All the O's have is Cash, Montreal would be one or two up on them with Fans and need and all if they had a chance at getting him (which they don't), LA doesn't really NEED need a Right Fielder, Green would be a waste at first but he would be less likely to get re-injured there, Maybe a few Dominican fans, I don't know about them being good fans, and that park has to be one of the dirtiest cheapest looking parks in all of Major LEague Baseball. However, the lure of going home might be enough to bring Vladi to LA.

My money is still on the Mets just because of the 4/5, LA has a decent if not equal chance to NY, but somehow I just have to go with the Mets on this one.

Vlad is going to go to the highest bidder, which will be the O's.

He is just waiting to drive up the price plain and simple.

No one else has the kind of money he wants, the O's will give him the $$$ he wants and he will be in Baltimore.

That's my fuzzy way of saying the Mets have the most intangibles to offer Vlad at this point, though its hardly the perfect situation I'm sure he was envisioning... 'low' as they were probably low on his list but 'common' as in the beforementioned intangibles... anyway, basically I agree with your accessment. Looks like it will be the Mets.

Baltimore doesn't NEED to shell out the money for Vlad. They aren't going to be serious competitors this year and will probably finish 4th once more in the AL East. Next year Magglio Ordonez and Carlos Beltran will be free agents so they can always wait for one of them.

Just so you folks stop arguing about inane things and realize the deals currently on the table:

Mets - 3 years, $30 million base, with incentives could eb as high as 5 year, $72 million.

Orioles - 5 year, $67.5 million GUARANTEED MONEY, and reports have them being able to raise that if necessary.
