    Re: The Biogenesis/Suspension thread

The actual use of PED's bothers me less than the lying about it.
I'd rather heard Braun say "No comment" than him take fans for fools.

When baseball is serious about cleaning up the game, they will give
first time offenders a one year suspension & a lifetime ban for repeat offenders.

The fact he used again after he gave that indignant press conference at Spring Training in 2012 says a lot. Guy knew he was guilty then, got off on a technicality, and then continued using.

      Outstanding.

Glad that clown finally got suspended after getting off on a technicality last year.

Did they give a time frame of the usage?Must've missed that.

I guess points for basically saying, I ****ed up. He's still in the negative for fighting this as far as it has gone. I suppose holding on to that shred of "hope" and it worked up until now. This guy had a bulls-eye on his back since he duped MLB with the testing sample handling situation technicality.

Biggest name, or at least best player, to take a suspension from this mess, I believe.

As for Braun, I'm shocked he tried to deal, MLB must have a hell of a case from whatever they found at Biogenesis.

Speaking of which, I sincerely hope we get to see said evidence at some point once all the suspensions are handed out. I think transparency in this is a must from MLB, especially with no positive tests.
Why wouldn't they just hammer him if they had a bulletproof case?

Why give him what amounts to a nothing punishment (Team's out of it and everyone assumed he's guilty anyways) and cut a deal?

Personally, I think he just beat MLB again. I'm not really sure why people aren't madder about that.

My guess is the Union helped him get a better deal.

I agree 100%. I guess the MLB realized they couldn't get the 100 game suspensions without a failed test/previous admission. So they get something in between the 50 and 100 games. I would've like to see this go into next year where he misses all of Spring Training, but unfortunately not.

IIRC, he tested positive in Fall 2011, gave that presser in Spring 2012, and all this BioGenesis stuff is all within the last year.

If baseball really wants to clean this up there needs to be stiffer penalties in pay. Melky got caught last year and still signed a 2-year $16mil contract.

Baseball and MLBPA needs to say if you get caught you void your contract and get league min on return from suspension.

The risk doesn't outweigh the rewards.

Braun looks like a bigger *** to me now considering his little press conference to throw the handler under the bus when he got lucky.

Also, after the arbitration hearing, Shyam Dyas was fired by MLB.

This doesn't really change the fact that the collector dude ****ed up.

You've never heard of a plea bargain?

Also, calling this a "nothing punishment" isn't true.

He is going to lose over 3.4 million dollars worth of salary over this.

And wouldn't you agree Braun's team of lawyers asked for a plea bargain? I'm sure MLB didn't come out swinging for a plea bargin.

And wouldn't you agree MLB could have said, forget it, 100 days or nothing?
