True. But I'm guessing it would've been difficult to make a 100-game suspension stick. Does double jeopardy apply? Is this exact situation covered in the CBA? The MLBPA would almost certainly contest a 100-game ban, yet they clearly don't want to be seen defending a player who's a liar and a cheat in many fans' eyes.

What I'd like to know is, does this 65-game suspension count as a 1st failed test, a 2nd failed test, or something else entirely? If Braun is caught cheating in the 2014 season or beyond, does he face a lifetime ban?

I don't remember who it was, but I saw a tweet that said this is a first offense.

50 games for cheating, 15 for lying.

No one really knows all of the details either, so maybe this was the best route for his punishment. I was just really hoping for a penalty that would carry over into next season. At the same time I am glad they acted right away. Even though the Brewers are garbage anyway, he still could have impacted other teams chances for the playoffs.

He just so happened to get suspended right before he came to Coors Field this weekend.

Should have been 150 games minimum. 50 games for previous failed test + 100 games for this + another 25 games or so for lying and fighting MLB and ruining someone's life. Salary should also go to the tester that he attacked for following the rules set by MLB.

Plus a formal apology were he says he cheated both times, lied, is a hypocrite, and since he has set a terrible example for kids he is returning all awards he has gotten.

I'm not surprised about this situation at all. He probably thought he could get away with it again and stupidly tried to do so. He has no one to blame but himself for this situation.

He's the first domino to fall and he's going to start a chain reaction. I hear they have serious dirt on A-Rod. To be quite Honest I wouldn't be surprised if Alex got the lifetime ban.

If everyone on that list gets suspended this is really going to suck for my tigers, we will need to find a shortstop to replace peralta.

His whole high horse attitude about this has been annoying. He's coming off as a real blowhard. He would have never pitched his famous bloody sock game (which probably solidified his HOF induction) without a direct injection of a painkiller to numb his ankle. He should probably back off a bit about putting substances into one's body to enhance performance.

I'd rather heard Braun say "No comment" than him take fans for fools.

When baseball is serious about cleaning up the game, they will give
first time offenders a one year suspension & a lifetime ban for repeat offenders.
Exactly. This whole looking into the camera thing and vigorously denying allegations when you're 100 percent guilty needs to stop.

I thought his "confession" of not being perfect today was hilarious. No ****, Braun. No one ever expected you to be. But you are a cheater and your place among the current greats is done.

It's really not about the cheating. Whatever, you take the risk, let fate fall as it may. But if you get caught, don't lie about it. I could actually respect players who try it, get caught, and immediately OWN it.

It was only a "mistake" because he got caught.

Braun is as laughable as Rafael Palmeiro is.

The contradiction of sports and people in general is hilarious to me. All we ever hear from pundits is “Just come clean” or “Don’t make up some silly excuse” when these guys get busted. And if they are not denying, it’s always the same thing… “I took it to recover from an injury” or “I didn’t know what I was taking @ the time.” We all know that’s BS. And majority of the time those guys don’t get trashed nearly as bad as they should, but I digress.

You always hear those same pundits say “Just tell the truth, just be honest and we will forgive.” As far as I know, Ryan Braun did, and now this guy is getting hammered!!! No wonder there’s always an excuse for taking these things. He’s making no excuses (to my knowledge) and just flat came clean. The hypocrisy is amazing.

Btw, he deserves everything he is getting and probably more. 2 things that are tough characteristics to overcome are liars and cheaters, and now he has the stigma of both. He is a PoS for his actions all the way around this thing. I am not defending him at all with this post, and hope it doesn't come off that way. All I am saying is he comes finally clean, with no excuses, and is now getting his. What about all the others who had an excuse but took it for the same reasons as him? They also deserved their day, and many just got off with a slap on the wrist media-wise.

Braun hurt the organization and his fanbase.

#8 was a popular jersey around here, not sure if it will continue to sell as well.

He has apogized to his teammates and the organization.

He would make bigger strides with the fanbase between now and ST if he came clean and apologized to everyone involved.

He half arsed it yesterday by apologizing to anyone that I disappointed.

Edit- Local media interviewed Lucroy after the game. He said, Braun, came up to him, said he was sorry, and he screwed up.

If he came out and said that to everyone, that would help. It's going to be a long healing process.
