    Re: The Biogenesis/Suspension thread

Ryan Braun in 2009 (shortly before A-Rod was outed as a PED user): "“The best thing he can do is come out, admit to everything and be completely honest. The situation will die a lot faster if he tells the whole truth.”

Ryan Braun in 2011 (upon being informed he tested positive): "This is all B.S. I am completely innocent."

Ryan Braun in 2012 (upon beating the rap): “I am very pleased and relieved by today’s decision. It is the first step in restoring my good name and reputation. We were able to get through this because I am innocent and the truth is on our side.”

Ryan Braun today: "As I have acknowledged in the past, I am not perfect."

    Final verdict: Hypocritical scum.

Of 100 million (or thereabouts) dollars. You think he's not totally fine giving that up to make this go away?

And yes, I've heard of a plea bargain. But this is a slap on the wrist compared to what they could have done to him. In the end it's completely inconsequential to him and to the Brewers.

"I tried to handle the entire situation with honor, with integrity, with class, with dignity and with professionalism because that's who I am and that's how I've always lived my life," he said. "If I had done this intentionally or unintentionally, I'd be the first one to step up and I say I did it. By no means am I perfect, but if I've ever made any mistakes in my life, I've taken responsibility for my actions. I truly believe in my heart and I would bet my life that the substance never entered my body at any point."

          ???

I'm just acknowledging he did say, he isn't perfect, like what he said today.

Not a fan. No HOF for Sammy if that's what you're asking. Sammy's also one of the few that's been factually documented to cheat (when his corked bat blew up) so the PEDs allegations weigh on him a bit more than some imo just due to the fact his motivation to cheat/succeed has been proven to be stronger than his dignity.

Also, that he walked out on the team in '04 and the team had to refer to the security cameras to see wtf.

How about apologizing for last time around and being a self-righteous a-hole?

Pfft, plea bargain. The man bet his life. Nobody likes a welcher.

Braun is a man of honor, integrity, class, dignity, and professionalism, so this shouldn't be an issue. I'm sure the Brewers will look after his widow and kids.

Great. Not really relevant to what I said, but, you know, cool.

He saw an opportunity to use the guy in order to better himself.
I resist the idea that the collector is some sort of victim here. He messed up and gave Braun the opportunity to use his screw up to get off.

I know that people **** up and that's fine, but when your job directly affects the livelihood, career, and reputation of other people you just can't. There's protocol for a reason, and considering the importance of the job if you mess it up it is a really big deal.

That he kinda Lance Armstrong-ed the sample collector.

To lie to simply cover your own *** is one thing. It's not good, but not nearly as bad as attempting to ruin people in the continuance of the lie.
