The thing is Reyes COULD be good....hes shown that he can be a really good shortstop/second baseman....but Soriano is good and he will be for a long time.

Re: Rumored trade - Sori for Jose Reyes

The Mets made the right acquisitions this offseason to improve their D, Soriano is a step backwards. Sure he has a big bat but he may be one of the worst fielders in the league.
Reyes will be a great player soon, if not this year. If they Rangers are willing to throw in Mench, who I played high school ball against and legion ball with, and possibly Cordero then it's more intriguing. Mench has some pop, he led the nation in HR's playing at the University of Delaware and had a great year for Texas two years ago before injuries set him back last year.

I still think getting rid of Reyes now is the wrong choice. However, the Mets are notorious for making bad decisions when it comes to players.

Exactly. Everything is treating Sori like he's freaking choped liver. Sori is a GREAT player. Jose can't even hold a candle to Sori in terms of offense, but defense - yeah, Reyes is better, but Sori is improving at his second position. Let's see how Reyes does in his second position.
Btw, I doubt Sori passed him prime yet. I feel like he's only beginning to get there.
" I look at him and it's getting to the point where it's just scaring me. He looks younger but he doesn't carry himself in a younger manner. He's impressive, and I'm glad we drafted him. "
                  - Lavar Arrington on his new Redskins teammate Sean Taylor.

Dude, Reyes is 20 years old, he has the potential to be a star. He showed it last year. Plus Soriano's offense can't help the Mets real weakness and that's pitching.
