I don't think they are. Players are hyped for reasons. How would you have felt if the Cubs traded Mark Prior before last season for Soriano? Soriano was an all star, and Prior was an unproven ML pitcher at that point in his brief career.
Prior was the most hyped SP to hit the big leagues in a while. Reyes is receiving the just as much hype. I have to side with the Mets here, giving up on Reyes right now is not the right choice.

That kind of hype turns out to be true about once a generation.

You didn't answer my question. I asked how you would have felt if the Cubs ignored the hype and went after a proven all star? Put yourself in the situation Mets fans are in.

                  Reyes does not = Prior.

Reyes does not = Mark DeRosa at this point.

The kid's got a LOT to prove.

I remember when Royce Clayton was being hyped twice as much as Reyes is now. All I know is, if I had Reyes, I'd ship him for Soriano in a heartbeat. Heck, I'd ship him for Michael Young in a heartbeat.

The Rangers will NOT trade Soriano right now. I believe he will be traded later on but he won't be traded for the first offer that comes along. If the Mets have some young pitching propects in their organization, I think the Rangers would be interested. Of course, they'll sit back and wait for the right trade.
