Todays the day. Montreals mayor meeting with commish! If he's going into the meeting with plans for a stadium, then that'd be real great sign, since that was the main thing that was stated as to what Montreal would need to assure MLB for them to consider having a team back there.

That's more generous than what most other sports seem to say to any city wanting a team. Most other sports seem to say that a city must already have a proper stadium/arena in place and everything to even be considered. All MLB seems to want right now is just PLANS on a new stadium. All MLB wants is plans right now, and if Montreal has the assurance that if they build the stadium,they get a team, I don't see how that won't be happening. Just provide MLB with the stadium plans, see what they think, and hopefully in the future we'll hear Montreal is getting a team once their stadium is complete!

I feel like if that's the case one of the only reasons why MLB is being so lenient with having a stadium is the fact that Montreal

A) Has a temporary stadium in the Big O (no more than 2 seasons worth though)

B) The Tampa situation is still fluid and MLB could be doing a cynical ploy using the threat of Montreal to get the people in the Tampa area to actually get their feet moving in getting a new stadium deal for the Rays.

I got 13. I think 13-14 is probably the max you could get since it's only 60 seconds

Even if it is just a ploy, hopefully it fails. Get rid of the Rays. Let Tampa be the AAA affiliate of the Marlins or something instead.

Really hoping Bell becomes owners of the Montreal team. Jays are off of TSN,but TSN now has 5 diff channels. Expos games can air across the country for every single game of the season. No sort of regional restriction at all(at least I hope not). Even as a Jays fan, I'd be interested in watching those Montreal games too.

Those were really the main points. It's a start at least! Hopefully they at least have good matchups there. Can you imagine if MLB did something like had a Rays-Astros game in Montreal...As much as Montreal wants to see baseball, who'd care about that? But at same time..maybe people would go to a Rays game to make a statement that they should get the Rays or something.

Have Jays vs Nats series,that'd be so fun to see fan reaction to Nats! They should also try a NL east series there since people in Montreal more familiar with the NL teams.

No way expansion happens in MLB...they'll have to relocate a franchise which logically only means TB. I'm not a fan of moving home games to another city and it's already been proven that Montreal can draw much better than TB ever will be able to. The ST games in Montreal gets a big crowd and they drew pretty good when they were winning (last 10 years they weren't really relevant) which is much better than TB can say. I think moving TB to MON makes a lot of sense, assuming they can get a stadium (that has a retractable roof with real grass, BTW).

On a different but related topic, if they do move TB to Montreal...I'd like them to move the team back to the NL and stop this interleague non-sense. For that matter, maybe MLB would go back to a "balanced" schedule so I don't see Walgreens 19 times a year.

Maybe it's me but I think MLB would make more sense in switching back to East vs. West and having two division winners face two WC winners (in the division series after the first playoff round) so it evens the playing field a bit more.

He's actually swung it pretty well this year. He nearly hit a bomb, and just missed a 2B off of Scherzer last night. Not your average 0-59

If Montreal gets the Rays, I think they need to stay in the AL East. That'd help them out alot in terms of attendance. Not just for the Jays-Expos rivalry, but having Expos-Red Sox,Expos-Yankees series happening multiple times a year will help them in attendance and tv ratings alot.

If I were part of that ownership group, that'd be one big thing I'd try to get out of MLB, is a promise that the team won't be moved to NL East.

The only problem is the MLB would want one of the Canadian teams to be in the National League. I'm surprised they let the Astros move leagues.

They might want them to,but would that really be the best move to make?

They'd have to go to the NL East. So Marlins seem most likely to make jump to AL East? I'm sure even the AL East teams might prefer Montreal over Miami(since Montreal is much closer travel wise).

Had a interesting discussion with my brother about Dominican Republic and people that come from there and basically he said all the All Time-US Born players team will destroy the All Time Dominican players team and we went back and forth and his reason was that the US is just better and i ain't even saying they would beat the US, just that it would be a ballgame at least
