A couple of years ago it was reported that NBC wasn't happy with NHL playoff games going into multiple OT's because it interfered with their programming schedule.
I recall an issue with an afternoon NHL playoff game interrupting a horse race.
Perhaps this is the reason for the experiment?

Could be that they just want to see if it adds any excitement to the game?

I know why so many hate it, but I do like how MLB is trying to be progressive in seeing if there are ways to improve a game - and they're doing it in the minors first.

If that's the case, then let another network have a crack at the game. What is wrong with us that we want a "good thing" to be over so quickly? It's a baseball game...not a final exam. Why are we rushing through it?

I agree.
I think what happens is the league forgets who it's bread and butter is and pays too much attention to the guy, who will never watch a baseball game, complain about the sport.

I'm not a big soccer fan and I've said I might watch if the field were smaller with less players and more goals.
But realistically I probably wouldn't watch soccer regardless if they changed the game to my liking.
Soccer shouldn't listen to fans like me, just like baseball shouldn't.

I do, however, like this rule for the minors.
Playing multiple extra innings on a travel day in a league that relies on buses as their primary form of transportation can cause havoc for everyone involved.

There are beginning to be alot of reasons to quit watching professional sports.

The Marlins have a “handshake agreement” in place to sell the team to a New York-based real estate developer for the price of $1.6 billion, reports Mike Ozanian of Forbes. Ozanian cites two anonymous sources that claim to have been told by Marlins president David Samson that the deal is in place. The $1.6 billion price tag would be more than 10 times the $158MM price at which owner Jeffrey Loria purchased the team back in 2002.

Would be funny though if the sale goes through and then Expos get a team back not too long after. Loria out of MLB, Marlins with new ownership and Expos back with good owners.

Serious question though, let's say Rays get moved to Montreal, would it have much impact on the Marlins? Cause now they'd be Florida's team.

I wonder if the agreement requires the Marlins to stay in Florida. I'm sure the new stadium and lease would make it tough.

But Miami should be a good market. That franchise just needs someone smart at the top.

I don't think the Rays have much effect on the Marlins. "Florida's Team" doesn't really have any ring to it.

Tampa Bay's attendance is already a snow bird attendance. Them leaving has no bearing at all to Miami.

A shame that Illitch's Tigers couldn't win it all for him but at least he got to sip the cup of championship success with his Red Wings. He will be missed.
