Re: MLB Off-Topic
EDIT: Suspicion confirmed, highest BA was .299 haha. I had no idea he played till 2009 though. I thought he retired early-mid 2000s for some reason. I don't even remember him on the White Sox or Astros. I don't even know if I remember him in a red Angels jersey, just the blue pinstriped one (my personal favorite of theirs).Last edited by Blzer; 07-28-2018, 03:58 AM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
Baseball needs to figure out a time when they can move the HOF commencement and speeches to when baseball isn't happening or the trade deadline is not approaching.
I think baseball should do it the week of the All-Star game. Perhaps not play any games on Sunday and have the HOF speech that nite so fans can make a weekend out of it. Perhaps make it the Wednesday or Thursday after the ASG so that could be a talking point for the players.
Either way, it's a disservice to such a great night. I heard on the Braves telecast that they told the HOFers to limit their speech to 10 minutes...last year they got 15, before it used to be 20? Getting inducted into the HOF ought to be a huge day and telling them to shut up so the trade deadline deals get more press is just wrong.
Does it give them some press? Sure. But they know the real action is the talk about who will make the Hall. Once it's announced, the Hall could give zero ****s.
The players don't really matter to them.

Re: MLB Off-Topic
Part of me wouldn't be surprised if he's on the big league roster to start the season.
But on the note of Vlad Jr, he's being promoted to AAA on Sunday. Funny how Cooperstown is almost right in the middle of New Hampshire(AA team) and Buffalo(AAA team). So instead of a 4 hour drive east back to New Hampshire, he's going 4 hours west to Buffalo.Comment

The HOF ceremony itself starts at, say, 10am Pacific Time.
Then a full slate of baseball starting at, say, 2:30pm Pacific Time.
As for the Trade Deadline, they should have all day games on July 31 all finishing up and dedicate the entire evening to the trade deadline and broadcast it, with the deadline itself happening at some time during the evening.
There. Two "eventizations" of regular yearly baseball calendar items.Comment

They should have HOF Saturday across baseball with viewing parties at the stadiums that have games that day.

The idea regarding the trading deadline wouldn't work unless they moved the deadline day around year to year.
You can't ask a team who may have played a night game in the west the night before and then traveled to the East to play a day game (among other potential issues since the 31st could potentially be any day of the week).
If they made the deadline something like the last Sunday of July then it could potentially work though I don't really think it's necessary.Comment

I like the idea above for the Hall of Fame, it makes all the sense in the world to me.

Braves announcer Joe Simpson goes on a weird rant about the Dodgers batting practice attire.

BTW - I wish he'd stop worrying about how unprofessional the Dodgers look in BP and instead worry about how unprofessional the Braves look on the field right now. I'd say that's a heck of a lot more important."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. Re: MLB Off-Topic
I'm not necessarily agreeing with Simpson (he is a true "old man" when it comes to stuff), but I don't think that means he doesn't have some kind of point. I played baseball through college and there was a uniform for warm up, for BP, etc, If I was to coach a team now, I'd require everyone to look the same in BP/warm ups. That's the point of being a team...you look like it. I think he's going overboard with his point, but at the same time it doesn't look professional (I wonder how other teams do it...I haven't watched MLB BP in years).

I wasn't disagreeing with him either, but I agree he went overboard on it. Almost like the "get off of my lawn" guy.Comment
