Stat of the Day: Jacob deGrom is on pace to be the first pitcher in MLB’s Modern Era to have an ERA below 2.00, pitch more than 200 innings and win fewer than 10 games.

        More Bonds nonsense.

If you took all 762 home runs and made them strikeouts, he would still have a higher OBP AND lower strikeout percentage than Willie Stargell, Reggie Jackson, Mike Schmidt, Sammy Sosa, and Alex Rodriguez.

I do sometimes wonder just how many he'd have hit if he played at Yankee stadium instead of for the Giants. Probably quite a lot...

Especially since he could play 162 if he DH'ed a lot,

I think he took mental days off, though.

For some reason this made me look up Tony Gwynn's career combo of HRs and SOs, combined together it's 569 for his 20 year career.

For context, Bonds struck out over 1500 times

Tony Gwynn is, imo, the greatest hitter that I've ever seen play.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Don't let all these Barry Bonds facts distract you from remembering he won't be elected to the HOF by the writers and it will be another 20-30 years before he is inducted.

Id say more like 50-60 years.
                      Today's baseball writers hate him.

I trust the guys he played alongside that they will induct him as part of the Vets committee.

                                Veterans committee, from Baseball Reference:

The Veterans Committee has taken on many forms over the course of the last half century. The current construction was established in 2011. Baseball's history is broken into a number of eras, with more recent ones getting more frequent consideration than more distant periods from which candidates have been considered many times. On a rotational basis each era is voted on by a sixteen-member panel and any candidate receiving at least 12 votes (75%) is elected.

All players who competed in 10 seasons at least 21 years before the election and all Negro League players with ten years of total service are eligible for election.
Members are urged to consider the entire career of the player. For example, Joe Torre was considered for his 18 years as a player and his career as a manager.
When a candidate turns 65, he is eligible six months after retirement. This applies to managers, umpires and executives. Anyone receiving at least 75% of the vote is considered elected.
I believe it's broken down into dead ball era and modern era right now. There might be a 3rd committee. I can't remember off hand.
